    How to find a nazi:

    1. write “nazi sux”.

    2. wait for them to be offended.

    3. yay, You found a nazi fuck. Now [redacted], until there wont be any left.

“The fourth little pig’s house was made of wolf skulls. They aren’t very sturdy, but they send a message.”

Maybe today, some could even talk, rarely… But soon, we may lack the comfort of mercy…

Do anyone think, I’m such psycho fuack I’d like to torture, kill, fight for own survival, instead just doing happy daily life. So far, I’m in middle europe, and just had few issues with haters, but in places, where haters do threat some life, it is only natural to defend self, with more and more brutal defense, do anything to survive. To be clear, wish we could just talk, maybe split, but that was not us who choose violence in the first time.

Ps. and i do NOT mean talks like they: “don’t be gay and you be left alone”, but now, it is me: “don’t be nazi fuck, mind own business, and you survive”

Sending a message is fine. Mutilation of the corpses and burning of the houses is one way to do this without torture.

Of course, sometimes one needs to shoot a GI, and not finish him off, so his screams will attract more targets out of cover. That’s legit.

What does that have to do with anything? My points are:

            1. Advocating for killing nazis would qualify as incitement to violence (or some similar crime) in many legal jurisdictions.
            2. If you are going to commit a crime, don’t do it in public.

I’m pretty sure that war was about fracturing international working class solidarity before something like the internet could be developed. There’s no war like a war for supremacy. The authors of our world knew as much 100+ years ago, how ethnic/cultural divisions/pride prove to be one of the most effective carrots for distracting the soldiers of our species towards serving the interests of the hierarchy (dictatorship of the incumbents). Hitler was probably as much of a pawn for the elites of his time as Trump has proven to be in the USA for the sadistic masters-behind-the-curtains of today

I like comics. I like 4 panel comics on social media. I am not US citizen. I am not willing to see only policital comics. I don’t want to see extrapolated political comics. I come in the comics sub to get away from politics.

Unfortunately, all pizzacake does is political comics. Or at the very least most popular ones that got pushed up the feed. Hence I don’t enjoy her content.

There is a reason why many left non-political subs like r/pics, r/crazyfuckingvideos, r/publicfreakout or r/adviceanimals. These subs not supposed to be politically locked echo chambers. But now they are.

If I want to keep up with politics, I’ll go to politics communities, subs and news outlets. Blasting US politics out of every corner gets annoying quite fast.

Define “fury”. I feel like I’m being relatively conversational, we just disagree on something. I’m not calling you slurs, or making assumptions of your character. I’m simply responding to people who are responding to me at this point, with a few minor exceptions.

If I were to make any kind of judgement it would be that a lot of you don’t really know how this is supposed to work. For too many, and maybe you included, discourse in social media means you have to completely agree with something, or else remain silent. You’ve been swatting at trolls so long you don’t know the difference. This has the unfortunate side effect of creating echo chambers, and these little praise parties.

Edit: actually, overlooking my comment to you, maybe I was 😬 oops. I’m probably getting a little swept up in this too – anyway, you still stopped, the same as I did. Should I be obligated to say something nice about the content, or nothing at all? So the conclusion is still the same.

The art style is recognizable. Seems easier to me to recognize the art, not bother reading it, and scroll to the next post, than it would be to go into the post to tell everyone engaging with the political cartoon that you don’t like political cartoons.

If I see a post about sports I don’t go into the comments to tell everyone there I don’t care for sorts, because the people in that comment section do not care.

Is it more likely that a person is a Nazi, or that you’re conventionally unattractive? 🤔

There are a lot of Nazis, but there are way WAY more ugly people before you get too smarmy about it.

I’m sure many people will think you are stunning and brave though and you should hang out with them instead, but the fact remains.

      Edit:

Oh no! Some people are stupid, some people are ugly, and some people are Nazis. And on Lemmy you’re way more likely to find the first two, that’s just how it is. Shine up your personality and practice your multiplication tables.

      Edit 2:

I didn’t actually open and read the comic and sub comic of this comic until now, but the fact remains: ugly people exist and for some reason I can’t escape the blandness of pizzacake..

Actually I’d rather just leave it; still true.

The thing is, people don’t blow up on other people for being ugly. People do blow up on other people for calling out their unacceptable behavior, though. This person’s looks aren’t what they’re upset about, it’s just a socially acceptable reason they can use to vent their frustration about being called out for something else.

        way WAY more ugly people

This is objectively false because beauty/ugly is not a linear scale.

If it were a linear scale then 50% of people would be ugly and 50% would be beautiful. If it’s a scale with two axes, then 25% would be ugly, and 75% would be beautiful to somebody.

And beauty has way more than two scales. Some can be funny and be attractive, they can be pretty and be attractive, they could be caring and be attractive. The list goes on and on.

And what ends up being the case is that the vast majority of people are beautiful, to someone. Except for the dumb fucks that think that others are ugly. They’re beautiful to nobody.

It’s actually not. People who are brilliant in one topic could be easily stupid in another. Picasso couldn’t do calculus. Fish can’t climb trees.

It’s very rare to find an actual stupid person. Uneducated, sure. Ignorant, you betcha. But to be actually stupid across the board, you either need to have a real genetic deficiency, or be stubborn in your ignorance.

And I found that people who think others are stupid very often do so because they are ignorant themselves about the multiple types of intelligence.

It’s a reference to measures of intelligence sometimes being poorly thought out. Imagine if a monkey society came up with a basic competencies list. Among the list would probably be the ability to climb a tree. Now imagine if the monkey society tested a fish according to their competencies list. The fishwould be deemed lacking due to their inability to climb a tree.

It’s the same thing with asking a painter to measure the stars or asking a manager to do middle school-level math.

I don’t think the thin-skinned reactionary snowflakes who rage at her comics realize that they drive her engagement. Negative comments make content popular as much as positive ones. All she has to do is say “fascist bad” and the people she’s talking about clamor over themselves to let us know who they are. Can’t help it.

If they were silent, those of us who agree would say “Obviously? Not that funny.” and move on without blowing the post up.

There was someone else in this thread who was complaining there were almost a hundred comments in the thread, but they could only see about thirty. If that’s the type of user experience this person wants, let them have it.

I think most of the criticism related to that has been about her using her comics as un-funny “hello, fellow libs” thirst trap advertising for her OF, which apparently isn’t working, so this one has to be more blunt.

I’ve been enjoying her comics for years and was unaware that she had OF

If she’s pushing it, she’s doing it very subtly

I think that two things are clear: she’s upsetting fragile guys who deserve to be upset, and those who pile on to defend those losers are unaware that they’re members of the first group

I have a base, flat amount of respect for anyone who is willing to speak out and call nazis nazis. Right now there’s a literal dark money fountain available to people who want to defend Israel, for instance, and anyone who isn’t taking that and still willing to ragebait probably isn’t 100% terrible. And real talk hatesubs are not real. That’s some wild conspiracy stuff. If they are, then fuck it, get that bag. Flat respect who can get people to pay to say how much they hate your titties on a platform where you’ll be instantly squuelched and still take your money.

I’m just here promoting real, sane, criticism.

I have never felt like any of her criticisms attack me, because I’m not a misogynist, a bigot, a nazi, an incel or any of the many other pathetic guys who find themselves challenged by her comics

      I don’t like Garfield comics.

What I don’t do, is comment on every Garfield comic that I see posted to whine that I don’t like Garfield. I don’t even feel a hint of desire to do that.

This is why people who see all the anti-Pizzacake comments on every one of her comics know that it’s not really about the comics. It’s people who are angry at seeing popular comic lady who self-inserts in many of her comics again and need to share that anger. It’s just kinda pathetic.

It’s solely this because it’s self-aggrandising and there’s no wit. She props up a weekly strawman who is attacking solely her on a position we’re all against in the most banal manner possible and so to defend the position we have to defend her.

It’d be easy to ignore if the upvote brigade weren’t so persistent, but they are and it raises worrying eyebrows.

Was it meant to be funny or meant to lampshade a problem?

IMO it was meant to lampshade

But again: not all comics are meant to be funny. Webcomics or otherwise. There’s a MASSIVE swathe of genres in all forms of media and creators are free to dance all over the genres as they wish.

“0/5 - Not funny. This is a COMIC therefore it is supposed to be comedic in nature.” It’s what you (and many others in this comment section) sound like right now.

To lampshade (or lampshading) as a verb means to intentionally call attention to an improbable, clichéd, or absurd element in a story to neutralize audience disbelief.

Most users on Reddit agree that the term comes from the metaphor of “hanging a lampshade” on something—making an awkward or glaring object even more conspicuous rather than trying to hide it.

The term has existed for a long long time and the concept behind the term even longer

If you wanna read more about the concept and see a nice list of examples in fiction over the years here’s a link to the TVTropes page on lampshading. Be warned though, TVTropes is a rabbit hole of learning about media tropes that can be like getting trapped in the gravity well of a star. Great adventures can be had, but your sleep schedule is likely to fall victim to it.

The birds will be chirping to the dawn and you’ll be wondering why you’re on a page about a show that you’ve never heard of learning the tropes it shares in common with works of fiction older than the country you live in.

10/10 - bring a warm drink, a soft blanket, and some cozy socks. It’s gonna be a wild ride.

Even if you weren’t a Nazi, what on earth about this post makes you feel a need to comment on somebody’s appearance.

“You’re presenting fascist behavior.” “Yeah? Well you’re ugly.”

What makes you think I’m commenting on anyone’s appearance?

Some people get worked up about dumb things, and some people absolutely ARE Nazis. At the same time “everyone and everything I don’t like is a Nazi” and “ugly people don’t exist” are dumb positions to hold.

My straight up position in all these comments is that, purely by statistics, someone calling you out for your looks (while being absolutely assholish behavior) is less likely to be a Nazi on the face of things than for you to not being a good looking fella or lady.

I don’t know the history of the comic and I can barely read the sub comic that one or the other is holding, but someone calling you ugly on only fans does not equate to naziism. Simultaneously, a person can be ugly and karma farm one topic (naziism here) without adding anything to the quality of general discourse. Some people are Nazis, some people are assholes, and some people are ugly bastards on OF that say “AI bad” and obviously anyone who is an asshole to me for any reason has a mom who’s a clanker.

I see your point very clearly. Do you see mine? Everyone is beautiful and everyone who is mean on the Internet is a Nazi are both false statements even when it is inconvenient to say so? OBVIOUSLY the point of this comic is Nazis are bad (I agree) and that they fire up for no reason (I have no experience to know if that’s true), but as feel-good as that is, it is a vapid response to reality.

The person who is being called a Nazi, is not being called a Nazi because they said someone else was ugly. They’re calling her ugly because she made a comic disparaging Nazi/fascist behavior and their response to said comic was to call her ugly. You have this backwards.

Personally I think at the beginning thely were cute, funny, and at bare minimum I give bonus points to anyone starting out trying to do something rather than listen to di guses who think that there’s a hard baseline for content.

But I do think she became some sort of Reddit beast that got stuck in a flattery eddie off to the side of the R/ALL tributary and stopped getting meaningful criticism and it hurt a lot of her output and growth.

And yet she still has more talent and entertainment value then a bunch of slackjawed comment troglydites with the most incredibly iroic sense of mediocre.

Eh, she was there before the big reddit change over, and true she seemed like she could roll with the punches but that ended pretty fast. If you’re at all curious to look it up, it seems some of the artists in r/comics are getting a little tired of her, and are hesitantly more vocal about it.

I mean I’m not disagreeing. If anything I hate Reddit more for being a crushing echo chamber that takes people who might have a good thing going and turning them into steralized, nonfunctional content monsters.

I do think it’s a time will tell kind of thing. Even SrGrapho just sort of fell into a hole where he was doing OC nudes and has yet to make a decent meme format in a decade.

Pizzacake could be better but I don’t mind that she’s taking on nazi’s and right wing weirdos who can’t help but lose their shit over titties and even the gentlest of criticisms. And refer to the first paragraph but there isn’t a single reddit community I would take the word of at face value.

I get it. I don’t know if I necessarily agree with your take on her work though. I don’t think she’s taking on Nazis or the right… These particular comics can be read simply as is, but also as anyone who dares criticize her. In that case, you’re not just an asshole but an actual goose stepping, swastika waving Nazi. Even those who would agree with her, who are on her side politically.

I really suspect this is all a strategy, and it probably shows some success, to drive traffic to her only fans and adult tier patreon who’ll hate subscribe. I think that’s how she’s really making her money. The comics don’t pay squat, as we all know.

I’ll take a stab at explaining myself. I like them OK. I’ve never followed her or been inclined to reshare her work on social media, but I would describe crossing her work as “generally enjoyable”. I think a lot of her work, like the example here, is more of a slice-of-life anecdote about an experience she had, rendered in the medium of the comic strip. It doesn’t strike me as a joke, more like “Hey world, here’s a thing that happened and my brief reaction to it”. And I like it because I recognize the pattern and I feel sympathy for her. Nazis… overreact to things. Being extreme is kinda their signature move, and they seem to feel an obligation to be as unpleasant as possible to anyone being critical of them.

But, they almost always find other excuses to be shitty than “You criticize nazis and it hurts my feelings / makes me feel threatened, because I’m a nazi”. They find the easiest excuse they can to bother you with, except the actual reason they’re interacting in the first place. If they are harassing a woman, they have a standard variety pack of insults they can pull from. You’re a whore, you’re ugly, you’re shrill or some variant thereof, you’re pretending to be a lesbian because no man wants you, etc. I think the strategy is quantity over quality because nazi hatespam is remarkably consistent both in its volume and its unoriginality. It really does happen, and it is hurtful in a kind of “I can’t believe humans waste their short lives being this uncreatively shitty” sorta way as well as just being generally mentally taxing, and it’s nice to be able to commiserate over it. It’s not exactly “ha ha” funny, but it is relatable in a way I appreciate in art.

This one is structured rather like joke, in that the last panel could be interpreted as a punchline to the previous setup, but I didn’t read it that way and I don’t think the idea of reading it that way would have occurred to me if I weren’t analyzing it now. I can see how the last panel could be interpreted as an unfunny joke if that is what was being looked for. That’s my hypothesis about why this comic is being received poorly by some, but not all, of the people in this thread. Let me know if I’m right 🙂 or wrong lol.

I mean, I never engage when her content is posted because I just don’t care, but it’s really not good content either. She doesn’t even try to make jokes anymore, I think the art style is pretty ugly, and while I agree with her messaging, that’s because it’s like the laziest, blandest possible way to communicate your political ideology. Yeah, Nazis are bad. I agree with that. I really don’t need to see hundreds of nearly identical comics, drawn in almost exactly the same way, saying the exact same thing with no additional subtlety or nuance or thought put into it.
