There are memes like “when you have to prove that you’re jewish” or crass jokes about people standing out due to their lack of foreskin, but i remember hearing that a huge swathes of American men are circumcised - it’s like 49%. Jesus.

If literally half of every men are circumcised, why is it even a remarkable topic to Americans? How did it become such a meme?

im surprised its just half. Im in a major metro area and unless there is something about circumcision that gets you to go to the gym more I would say its much higher in my area. Im pretty sure most every catholic in my area has it done.

THIS is why Im an intactivist . THIS is why we need faaar better sex education that illegalizes Male, Female and Intersex Genital Mutilation!

Study of Danish men shows that amongst about 800,000 men tested those who were circumcised had higher STD and HIV rates

    https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10654-021-00809-6

Study of almost 400 men shows that after circumcision more of them reported having more difficulty achieving orgasm and masturbating than before https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/17155977/

histological study of 26 men showed that the foreskin was the most neurologically sensitive part of the penis. The foreskin also played a part in protecting the glan of the penis from rubbing against clothing that made it more sensitive in those with a foreskin https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/joa.13481

Intact America Survey finds that the majority of mothers who were prompted to give their son a circumcision accepted meanwhile the majority who were not did not give their son a circumcision. mothers were asked on average 8 times if they wanted to circumcise their son. Soft sells,” such as being handed a consent form, increased circumcisions by 137%. Instead mothers should be given informational materials on how to clean theirvintact son’s foreskin. the foreskin will correctly retract after late puberty https://intactamerica.org/press-release-having-a-baby-boy-get-ready-for-the-circumcision-sellers/

American Academy of Pediatrics representatives get grilled on questions that have to do with the functionality of the foreskin AND OF COURSE, they cannot answer them. Because they’re corrupt bribed shills!

    https://www.researchgate.net/publication/334636997_Perversion_and_Perpetration_in_Female_Genital_Mutilation_Law_The_Unmaking_of_Women_as_Bearers_of_Law

A study of nearly 200 adolescents from Tanzania, Zimbabwe, and South Africa show overwhelming ridicule of those who have an intact penis and a ton of misinformation. Women believed that men who had a circumcision could be more promiscuous and that having a circumcised penis improved the sexual health of all partners involved in sex. Men reported a widespread support from female lovers to get a circumcision. There is no evidence that male genital mutilation or circumcison leads to significant increases in pleasure or decreases in disease transmission rates . The circumcision propaganda machine is clearly working!

    https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5888916/

according to the CDC and what they examined amongst men in the USA at least. The rates for breast cancer and penile cancer in men are actually about the same.

    https://www.cdc.gov/cancer/breast/men/index.htm

    https://gis.cdc.gov/Cancer/USCS/#/Trends/

Therefore, In men preventative mastectomies against breast cancer are more justifiable than circumcisions as preventative measures against penile cancers.

(And also yes being bigger or having more skin does increase your odds of getting some cancers as having more skin cells increases your odds of getting cancer… but I doubt that penile cancer is one of them - https://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-34515952)

There has also been a connection found between delayed ejaculation and circumcision. Some men with circumcised penises have found that the suffer from delayed ejaculation as a result of the numbness https://sci-hub.se/10.1111/and.12101

According to a small survey the prevalence of death-grip syndrome , which is a serious destruction of nerves in the penis due to harsh masturbation, is moreso prevalent in circumcised men than in non circumcised men.

http://www.joseph4gi.com/2019/11/death-grip-and-circumcision-is-there.html?m=1       I for one have suffered from death-grip syndrome even though Im a virgin so let me give you what information I have gathered about it from myself: The foreskin is a massive organ remember! It covers the whole of the penile shaft from the meatus to the testicles and it slides back and forth and acts as a natural protector and solid lubricator for the penile shaft during masturbation or intercourse. Men with no foreskin tend to be gripping the the unprotected urethral shaft , which is not meant to be tightly gripped at all one should note, just as tightly as they would a protected one. That unprotected urethral shaft over time WILL receive thousands of  microinjuries and destroyed nerves over time. The loss of nerves in that region means that a man has to grip the unprotected urethral shaft harder and Harder and  **HAAARDER ** every time they masturbate and this damage eventually results in a loss of stimulation. I am sure there are many women out there who suffer from dead vagina syndrome which was made worse by THEIR unconsensual circumcision!

    https://metro.co.uk/2017/12/13/need-know-dead-vagina-syndrome-7156032/

And finally a study of over 100 men proved that a circumcised penis is FAR less sensitive than a uncircumcised one in the ventral scar and glans of a penis because the foreskin protects the man’s ventral scar AND glans from unwanted overstimulation (like when a man’s glan is rubbing against his pants on a shaky bus ride)  and environmental damage (like water running down his urethra during a shower) - https://sci-hub.se/10.1111/j.1464-410X.2006.06685.x It is possible that circumcised women ALSO experience a decrease in stimulation to the clitoris without the clitoral hood due to , once again, overstimulation and environmental damage and it is possible that a woman gets her clitoral hood chopped off in a unconsensual circumcision. Heck some women have reported having their ENTIRE clitoris butchered off during their genital mutilation! …I believe, and I’m sure most men agree with me, that a woman and all other non-males has the right to be born with and grow up wit h a vagina that is unharmed and unadulterated and gives her as much sensitivity, freedom and pleasure as she wants. Now, why do I so many men not have this right to having a protection against over stimulation and environmental damage?! In this case  men, women , and non-binary peoples are ALL are getting fucked over equally by genital mutilators!

      “it’s cleaner”

… is such a weird reason to me.

Washing your knob when you shower is one of life’s little pleasures. Who’s avoiding it to the point their beanie is getting crusty under there?

If a dude can’t even give his old feller a good scrub a dub dub, where else is he neglecting?

Lack of hygiene in general is the bigger issue in this scenario that’s for sure.

      “easier to manage”

I’m almost scared to ask what specifically is being managed here… It’s a dick, not an intern.

Phimosis was mentioned as I recall, that and the goo under the hood.

There are a good number of evolutionary remnants that may not be ideal or even needed (wisdom teeth, tailbone, appendix, etc) but we don’t go performing preemptive surgery because of them.

Not that I disagree with the point, but sometimes wisdom teeth are pre-emptively removed, if it seems like, they are going to grow all fucked up, from the start. So out of the mentioned, that is a bad example.

No, it still works. Because with the foreskin it’s the same, there are also rare cases where there is a medical justification. My cousin had his removed as a teen, on medical grounds. We’re Danish, so it wasn’t some religious or cultural push.

The one “truth” is that it “reduces the risk of cancer”… Because technically chopping anything off reduces the risk of cancer, because that thing can no longer get it.

However foreskin cancer is not exactly a high cause for concern, and by this logic cutting off your ears and nose would be more logical.

Also not necessarily correct, foreskin protects from chafing and other similar micro fissures that happen daily for people without foreskin (as shown by the person above you having issues running). And while removing a part of you does lower the chances of getting cancer there, if it’s protecting another part of you from something it can increase the risk of cancer on that other part.

It’s viewed as either a cultural or religious tradition. Both of these are hard to pull your head away from once you’re raised in that situation, but it is possible. There are likely some cultural or religious practices most of us follow that might be viewed as bad by the masses in a few generations, like eating meat. Or at least lamb/veal.

If it’s something you chose on your own at an age when you were capable of making decisions for yourself, I have no objection (or if it was because of a phimosis, etc). If that decision was taken from you, then I think it’s mindless sexual mutilation, and that one cannot regret what one has not experienced. But it’s good that you have no problem with your peen being cut or not, buddy.

Which circumstance? The meme that OP linked or the crass jokes about people that don’t have foreskin?

Jokes in America tend to put uncircumcised men as the punch line or target of the joke. That’s why I used the phrase “punch down”. Men who aren’t circumcised tend to be made fun of in the US because of the societal pressure we have to circumcise at birth.

  • As a circumsized man, I don’t even know what all the fuss is about. Shit’s easier to clean and if there was any sensitivity loss from it, then I think I would have been a premature ejaculator if I wasn’t cut.

The argument that it’s cruel to a baby is valid; but most of the time, I’m seeing arguments from men who have no foreskin seemingly lamenting the loss of something they never really knew in the first place.

I think maybe you nailed exactly what the fuss is all about.

If no one had ever been circumcised before, and you pitched the idea of infant genital mutilation/modification, do you really believe any proposed benefits could possibly outweigh the revulsion of elective surgery on a baby?

I get it: no one should be judged for whether they are circumcised or not, and I can absolutely forgive people who have circumcised their babies for “normalcy” in the past. But the conversation right now is “what are we even doing here, guys?”

The sensitivity loss thing is mostly an internet myth, most studies on it show no difference with some studies reporting increased sensitivity instead. The foreskin does have nerve endings, but those are mostly “touch” nerves and aren’t really the nerves that contribute to pleasure/arousal.

As anecdotal evidence, I have a family member who got circumcised as an adult due to medical issues, and he’s very positive about it. I haven’t questioned him on if he had a change in sensation, but I know he’s happy with the outcome.

While I’m talking about benefits, I’ll mention it lowers penile cancer risk, reduces the chance of UTIs, reduces the chance of some STDs, and prevents phimosis/paraphimosis. Only real negative I’m aware of is the procedure itself.

The sensitivity loss thing is mostly an internet myth, most studies on it show no difference with some studies reporting increased sensitivity instead

It’s worth pointing out as a myth, it vastly predates the internet. The reason it’s common in the USA, is because the puritans believed it would make it easier to stop kids from masturbating.

Teenagers will jerk off to anything. I’m sure some neolithic cave teenagers were jerkin it to boob shaped rocks or baboon asses. Hormones gonna hormone.

the usa has the biggest or well ome of the biggest porn industries on the planet today despite the fact rhat mostt americam men have been circumcised since the 1900s …so…

Is this not proof that theyve failed? the american masturbators continued and continue to walk on despite their mutilations! …or well continue to jack on 🤭

I’d be interested to see those studies. Anecdotally, the nerves on the foreskin can absolutely contribute to pleasure/arousal just as almost any nerves on the body can do so. I wonder what criteria they’re basing that on and what differences they found.

Usually when people get circumcised as an adult, it’s because of health issues like phimosis where the foreskin is unable to retract over the penis glans. So yeah, I’m sure your family member was quite happy to have his penis work better when it gets hard.

Here’s a study on it. Basically the foreskin nerves are “touch” nerves, and all touch nerves get reduced sensation with arousal. The number of those touch nerves drops significantly with age as well, with a 90% reduction by the time your 45+. It’s other nerves (mainly in the corona and near the frenulum) that are focused on vibration and temperature, which mainly contribute to pleasure.

Ultimately the “ejaculatory latency time” doesn’t show a difference, even across various reasons for a difference in the quantity of touch nerves.

…bro that study that you linked is from brian j morris.

The RACP, the most notable medical authority in Australia, has denounced morris who is the author of this meta analyses . morris is an aussie and also a founder of a circumcision organization in Australia https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7691872/ this meta analyses is a sham by the quack brian.j morris. he was denounced by the australasian college of physicians. https://jme.bmj.com/content/circumcision-bioethical-challenge

Also you can research deeper and you will fimd the brian j morris was friends with a currently convicted pedophile , a pedophile who created a ‘sexual gratification group who’s members get off to thr thought of circumcising boys and to the thought of being circumcised’ Edit: I found it https://circumstitionsnews.blogspot.com/2013/11/london-gilgal-societys-quaintance-faces.html?m=1 Theyre both members of the gilgal society and they both get off to the thought of circumcising young boys, only one of them has been convicted of anything though

Didn’t know that, was literally just the first source I found.

Wikipedia’s article has a section on it, with about 4 difference sources that all seem to conclude the same though. Maybe they’re all bug circumcision propaganda, I haven’t really looked into that part of it.

When both “conventional wisdom” and our pediatrician advised it for hygiene and as something almost always harmless, and everyone I know had it done, I had no facts to decide against it for my sons

It’s normal. Almost always no negatives. reduces dick cheese

I realize there are horror stories but like with vaccines they are vanishingly rare

It’s not normal. What’s normal is allowing the natural design of the penis and foreskin to remain intact.

Wanna reduce dick cheese? Teach your sons how to clean their dicks.

Not anymore, it dropped to 49% recently.

My statement could have been “it shouldn’t be normalized” to be more accurate tbf.

I think history adds valuable context here ….

My kids are now in college. When they were babies, I literally heard nothing against the practice.

So 20 years of being public awareness and changing practices

It seems like you never went looking either.

I understand succumbing to social pressure unconsciously and I believe in “know better, do better”. I’m not trying to be harsh on you for choosing what you thought was best at the time. Now that you know, why do you still defend the practice?

What makes you think the arguments against circumcision come from circumcised men?

I am delighted that I was circumcised, and I think this is the most prevalent position for circumcised men to take. If it wasn’t, the practice would have died out due to fathers not insisting on it for their sons.
