Nah I just think it’s funny you think you’re some brave truth teller lol

Sorry that was grammatically unclear. I meant opposing restrictions on abortion. I agree with you.

No one cares about your opinions lol. How are you not getting this?
Starting to remind me a bit of a yappy dog…

I never claimed to endorse that view. You certainly can be downvoted for speaking truth. That’s just not the case here.
Usually this is the case when you are polite and articulate but get no serious replies and only downvotes. In other words, people downvote because they can’t dispute what you’re saying.
When you post a snarky one-liner that ignores the question at hand in favor of some belligerent tribal attitude, that’s just a low quality comment that belongs at the bottom of the thread. There’s nothing to contest because there’s no substance, so downvotes are the most appropriate response.

There is a weird contingent of “libertarians” who are very close to just fascists who hate taxes. It makes no sense but I attribute it to the political magnetism of Trump and similar fascist leaders. These people clearly don’t fit any sane definition of libertarian but I think they just continue to identify that way because they used to and they aren’t aware they’ve gone off the deep end.
They aren’t all like that though.
However, I disagree that there aren’t valid justifications for some of the specific examples you gave that go beyond a desire to repress people. Some people have been deeply harmed by the state and do not wish to be subject to its logic or control and I respect that choice.

Or maybe it just doesn’t answer the question lol.
“I’m downvoted, it must be because I’m right!” is a very silly conclusion here.

Keep in mind that a lot of political words are contentious and can have multiple definitions.
But in the broadest senses, a libertarian would be someone who orients their politics towards the pursuit or protection of liberty. This can take many forms. In the US at least, many libertarians tend to focus on reducing government interventions in their lives, opposing things like taxes, gun control, abortion and speech restrictions, etc.
Anarchists could be considered a subset of libertarians. However, they go much further in that they believe in the total abolition of the state. Most anarchists also believe in the total abolition of all relationships involving the domination of people by other people. This typically includes things like capitalism, racial hierarchies, gender hierarchies, or even hierarchies over children.
So a quick distinction might be that libertarians want a minimal state while anarchists want no state.

Well, it’s kind of damned if you do damned if you don’t. As you point out, climate change is already fucking us over with respect to food production and that’s only going to get exponentially worse. The less oil we use now the more time we have to develop and implement alternatives. Even if there is some short-term suffering it’s probably net beneficial to the world’s poor in the long run.
Of course we could easily make this transition without hurting the poor if we so chose but the powers that be have no interest in this.

The poor will suffer way worse if we don’t stop using fossil fuels. This is short term thinking.
Ideally we would transition in a sane, controlled way that doesn’t cause economic chaos. But since we haven’t done that, it just leaves the hard way.

So far there isn’t much evidence of that but I guess we’ll see. I don’t want people to starve, so I’ll admit it was wrong if this does end up causing a famine or something.
But I mean food prices were life double a few years ago so it’s not that bad currently.

Too bad. I hope the straight stays closed for good.
Oil guzzlers mald lol

I thought they were going to mine it. Did they change their minds?

Well this actually happened to me so I can speak from experience when I say mildly surprised. He’s a distant cousin though so maybe it would have been a bigger surprise if it was a first cousin. He married an heiress.
See I feel the opposite. Always pass on pp fun time. Unless it is your thing in which case don’t pass on pp times.
What an insane mentality. Barring some pretty specific circumstances I fail to see how anyone would be forced to endure 2 hr commutes. Those people chose that shit.
I don’t find responsibility to be that bad compared to having zero control over my life. In fact some responsibilities can be quite rewarding. I like helping people who I care about.
Plus I still had responsibilities as a child it was just pointless bullshit instead of real stuff. So many hours wasted on homework…
It’s not even necessarily about parents though. Schools are the worst offenders.
I don’t understand the romanticism for childhood. Being a child sucks ass. Being an adult can be hard for sure but overall it’s much better. Humans weren’t meant to live with zero autonomy. Not even children.

It’s insane to me that over the past few decades we allowed the state to construct an entirely parallel national police and judicial system subject to total executive authority, and that very few people objected to this in any major way until 2025.
I mean the underpinnings of this system, even before it was dramatically expanded and abused by Trump seem so blatantly unconstitutional it’s shocking. How can you have a separate judicial system for certain classes of people nested within the executive branch? Is that not a clear violation of separation of powers? How can we arrest and forcibly imprison or deport people without warrants? What happened to the 4th amendment? What the fuck were people thinking? Was it not obvious where this would lead?
For myself, I can only plead ignorance. I really did not investigate how our immigration system worked until I had cause to, and now that I’ve become educated I’m just incredulous that our elected leaders and judges created such a blatantly authoritarian system. And that no one who knew about it seemed to care for so long. Or at least no one with any power or influence.
I just don’t want to pressure someone into doing something if they don’t want to though…
