I mean to be fair many memes are posted on reddit and lemmy is comparably tiny to reddit, so cross-posting can be valid.

At this point I think the only useful signage is “sitting” vs “standing” and maybe “accessible”.

If you’re gonna make the bathrooms gendered, at least include ACTUAL SIGNAGE with the artwork. Not every person who walks in there is going to know at a glance what this means nor do genital shapes equate to gender and bathroom choices

      Thing is: They do.
If a transwoman with a penis feels like going into the urinal bathroom: Sure. Go bud.
Not like it said “Man and male with penis only”

Yeah… that’s not how that shit works in practice if you’re trans in far too many places…

Most people don’t have wheelchairs either, yet crosswalks have those little dips in the curb for wheelchairs. And consequently it’s far more pleasant now for cyclists and any other person traveling on sidewalks with wheels

First of all, no idea what you’re talking about. We have those curbs on train platforms, but those are for blind people so they don’t fall onto the tracks.

Second, I don’t get what you’re trying to say tbh. The womens bathroom is better with trans people in it or what is the argument here?

I don’t see how allowing biological men in the womens bathroom is making anyone’s life better, especially considering the downsides which is that many women find it extremely troubling to see men in an area that is usually reserved for them.

I’m a woman and I’ll even agree with you women should be able to make private spaces that let in only who the women inside choose - that’s not how public restrooms work however. I have no particular expectations when using a restroom beyond having a private stall to use for my self and others and that others mind their own business unless it’s to say something nice or helpful to someone else, I don’t actually care what their genitals, DNA, way of dress or body look like in anyway just that they follow bathroom decorum. If all bathrooms were just private ceiling to floor with doors that don’t have cracks around them and anyone was allowed to use them I think that would be ideal and help everyone because bathroom usage could be spread among a larger number of stalls, likely shorten the route to a bathroom if you don’t have to go searching for your gender and I say this as a person who use to use portable oxygen finding a toilet only for men when I was at my most sick knowing I had to dedicate more of my very limited energy to tracking down a woman’s bathroom sucked.

You’re literally being ableist towards people like me, I have cystic fibrosis and was born disabled, because you think you can speak for women as a whole, don’t put words in women’s mouths. If you are a woman and you feel that way then speak for yourself don’t involve the rest of us, thanks.

Wait until your girlfriend gets harassed and almost raped in the womens bathroom by a “trans woman”, then we can discuss this non-inclusivity bullshit.

I’m sorry that happened to your girlfriend, but anyone is capable of rape. You seem to be fixating on the trans part because it affirms your biases.

Yes, but not anyone is normally allowed in the womens bathroom, or other “female zones”, if you will. Men don’t have anything to do in there. If you don’t pass as a woman, you shouldn’t be in there. Simple as that.

You ever stop to consider that maybe you don’t pass as your chosen gender to someone else? Let people use the public restrooms they want. Harassment and rape are crimes, police that all you want, but we don’t need idiots getting bent out of shape and causing confrontations in restrooms because they believe they know better than the individuals who choose to present as a gender.

I don’t care. I don’t have to use the womans bathroom.

No. Women’s bathroom are for women. If you don’t agree with that very simple statement, I do not like you and any further conversation is pointless.

Because when you or someone close to you has been affected by it, you start to see things from another view than that ivory tower most of you live in.

I’m affected by it in the here and now, on a daily basis, by the policies that are implemented by fearful morons. Not by some imaginary “almost raped!!” nonsense that you’re bringing into it. You and people who think like you are the oppressors, not the oppressed.

To think that when I say “let’s use actual signage” you cry rape is fucking ludicrous. Get the fuck out of here with these obviously disingenuous arguments.

Worthless nonsense you’re spouting. I work as a bartender on weekends and I had 2 situations last month alone where some “trans woman” was harassing women in the bathroom. This is not some “imaginary nonsense” you claim. This is the reality hundreds of thousands, if not millions of women face every single day.

You’re not affected by it. You make yourself affected so you can collect internet points from people who live in similar ivory towers, not having to live with the outcomes of the decisions you propagate. You’re one of those politicians that told the public during covid: “No you REALLY gotta stay home, we do too, we all suffer together :((((” while celebrating private parties on some estates.

People like you disgust me. You are so deep into your own delusion you don’t see how you are actively harming women with your bullshit. You’re a misogynistic clown. End of story.

Genitals??? No no no. You got it all wrong. It’s asking “When you pee, is it delicate like a flower? Or does it sting like a cactus?”

Just trying to prevent the spread of STDs through toilet seats.
