When I was a kid, I thought this line was a joke
I don’t have kids, but if I did, I sure as fuck wouldn’t raise them to join the military. I saw though that shit after 9/11.
Spicy
¡caliente!
Me not having kids and ending my family line with me:

Please change kids to sons.
I don’t think my kids are terrorist pedophile bootlickers
I have to keep saying this, and I apologize for the repetitiveness, but Republicans can stop all of this at any time. They can fire him, reign him in, anything to stop this.
Yep. But they won’t. Go to the conservative subreddit. They are fucking LOVING it.
What’s a subreddit?
Some kind of sexually transmitted disease, I’d wager.
No-one on Reddit is having sex.
Good, keep it that way.
God, it always feels so weird to see people lying to themselves to have a circle-jerk about something they dislike.
It’s a joke, Joyce.
Jokes are supposed to be funny.
Reddit hasn’t been majority nerd for at least a decade now.
Lemmy, on the other hand…
In other words, people in glass houses probably shouldn’t throw stones at people in brick houses.
I will never understand people who not only actively support the military and soldiers, but want to become a soldier by their own free will…
Cause some people are psychos. Like I understand if a poor kid has no other means to get out of their situation and thus joins the army. But there are many middle class families with several generations of high ranking service members. These people are just straight up psycho, they have all the inside knowledge of what the military actually does and they still force their kids to join the military academy.
The one small consolation is that we don’t have a military draft, and most young people who pursue the military have a family with military service background. However, the other largest cohort are young people with no family support structures at all, so they give their lives to the war machine to try to do things like get an education.
Still, people choosing to enter military service is way down and more US citizens than ever fail to meet the fitness standards and requirements.
So, it’s not really “your kids” unless you chose to push them to military service or were such a bad/absent/dead parent that they had few other choices.
Now, if they try re-instating the draft, than this meme will be a lot more accurate.
This of course is not meant to minimize how insane this push for war is, nor how damaging it will be to those who are in military service, for whom this meme is very accurate.
There is a draft. Every man in the country is signed up for it. They just haven’t used it since Vietnam.
You make it sound automatic. No, they make you sign yourself up for it. Just to rub it in “we own you,” I guess?
Yup making you sign up for it makes it automatic. They just have to call you up, which they haven’t done in quite some time, but that’s not much of a guarantee or comfort.
