How I justify my home lab costs. Even though I could run it much slimmer.
Yeah I’ve gone down to just paying $10 a month for a seedbox. I’ve kept my homelab costs extremely low cos I really just use it for jellyfin currently. The costs will grow though cos I’ve inadvertently really gotten into networking now but at least that’s more productive than burning my money on endlessly rising subscription fees
My Jellyfin server’s monthly fee went up 70% too. What’s 70% of zero, again?
technically your server’s monthly fee is however much you spend on electricity for it
Which could still be zero for some people.
It is never zero, unless you steal it. If you produce it yourself it costs you depreciation of your equipment (ie you had previous investments)

also the seasons only being 8-10episodes each(most with poor writing, acting in later seasons), and 1-2 years in between season doesnt justify the cost anyways.

They’ll raise to the maximum that people will pay. Stop paying and they’ll stop raising.
The only streaming service I still have is Curiosity Stream, which is basically Netflix for documentaries. I have their most expensive plan (Smart Bundle Annual) and it’s only $6.67/mo.
Anything else I want to watch, I sail the digital seas and load up my Plex server with the bounty.
