Seriously every other post, every sub seems like nothing but politics. It’s so boring and disgusting. What made reddit great at one time was the diversity of genres and depth. Lemmy is very shallow and politically motivated it seems. I have been here since the Reddit exodus. It’s always been this way.
Do different Lemmy servers have different content?
Are certain severs curated?
Where do I find the depth and deep subject matter.
Drop some cool memes into lemmy and make it better for all of us.
Because politics has broad “appeal” and people are passionate about it. It’s also a form of propaganda. Different communities will use/abuse their power to influence how their users view issues.
Be the content you want to see.
Also, it’s odd to equate deep subject matter with a lack of politics.
OP is not the only one who has noticed a lot of content on here is shallow&political
Ironically, due the nature of the language used in their complaint and its similarity to psychological operations conducted by COINTELPRO, @OhVenus_Baby@lemmy.ml seems “shallow and politically motivated”.

If I can frame this a different way — I wish interest-driven discovery had a little less friction on lemmy/in fediverse. I don’t assume it’s not there. I just haven’t found it yet.
Raising quality of life for all human beings will inevitably result in more people who can share your online hobby discussions. Time to get on board
I tried asking about the World Cup the other day and the comments were all about politics. Super gay and annoying.
Wants to avoid politics and uses “gay” as a perjorative. This user is either 12 or a Nazi. Possibly both, I suppose.
Just look at the attacks and hate for simply asking this question. It’s crazy. I just want to see less political. To filter out some. It’s rampant. I get it with the world. But where’s the wood working tutorials and discovery of things anymore.
What do you want to learn how to make (out of wood)?
Was more of a joke. A commenter above told me I was only looking for woodworking tutorials and needed to get over the political side if Lemmy and basically I was being a baby about it.
I appreciate the effort though. I’m interested in learning and engineering things from all materials. 3d printers, woodwork, homelabs, old cars and mechanical things.
Books yo, may they be your best friend. I just threw away about 100 old car manuals from my fathers place, there’s hella print still around.
If you haven’t notice yet, the world is burning. It’s burning due to the actions of rich political people. That’s really important. People tend to talk about stuff like that.
Comment section of this post is not beating the allegations
The post isn’t beating the allegations. Wanting to avoid political discussions is inherently political.
You’re setting up a rhetorical double-bind
Umm ok? Yeah, politics are being discussed everywhere. That’s because politics are important. People trying to bury their heads in the sand and pretend they’re not are a big part of why things are going to hell.
If you don’t like political posts, don’t read them.
If you don’t like political posts, don’t read them.
If only it were that simple. These nerds pop up all over the place. Like when I posted about the World Cup, nothing but politics-nerds in the comments: https://lemmy.ml/post/45406364
There’s only 1 (possibly 2, depending on how strictly you define politics) root comments on that post related to politics.

It isn’t really surprising that a federated, FOSS alternative to Reddit and its enshittification has a lot of left-wingers, especially when it’s developed by communists.
Not knocking some people’s views. However simply look at the comments here and it’s mostly hate, negativity, echo chamber. Most of the replies are saying to get over it, like politics, this view or that view skewed with bias.
I was asking how, where to find more depth and communities or different servers if they host other content. Instead I’ve got like 100 mostly political replies. It’s weird.
Try other instances. No one forbids you from creating new accounts and explore other instances. And no one prohibits you from leaving completely lemmy.ml either.
I disagree bruh there is wall-to-wall DNC politics posting on other instances. It’s better to pick one with a good technical setup (latency & UI etc), good admins, federation to communities you like, then block & subscribe until Active looks good. The admins on world etc are very weird stalkers and visibly using bots + even allowing ai spam. They adhere to the same ideology as the main people monopolizing & ruining the internet old people here supposedly loved once upon a time (it still exists it’s just not English)
If you’re a liberal who just wants chill people you should simply keep an account on Lemmy.ml/.zip/Lemmygrad/Lemdroid/Hexbear and contribute to hobby discussions, then post your horrible inane commentary on .world politics.
No-no, thanks. Technical instances are fine, but I don’t want to be in instances with high levels of political opinions. ML, Hexbear and Lemmygrad contain too much pro-communist, pro-Russian, pro-USSR idealogies in both comunities and users. Especially, Lemmygrad. Maybe lemmy.world is not saint, but, at least, I don’t see so much annoying posts and comments there, which promote political and social ideologies. For me the best approach is to simply use a neutral instance and block unwanted communities on other instances.
Lemmy.world promotes liberalism and liberal ideologies. It sounds like your issue isn’t with politics in the abstract, but instead with left wing politics in particular.
Not enough people that aren’t interested in politics present here to engage more actively in non-political communities. Lemmy or PieFed still haven’t reached even 1 million of users. While Reddit in glory days had dozens of millions users(not bots).
Because everyone wants to run around thinking they’ve got everything figured out for the world or their country, at the comfort of their computer chair. And they’ll get validated in doing so, without having so much to lift a finger.
The main reason people moved out of reddit was a political one lol, of course we are going to get political here.
This is a bit, right?
