I bet this isn’t what really happened. It has the feel of a scam. The payout this guy has been promised for helping get that slop farm built must be huge.
Holy moly indeed. Wow.

It’s nice they set the note on the ground, under their mat. Instead of on a rock, through their window.
No one leaves notes, it’s not the 60’s anymore. This looks like a inside job or a setup to paint anti data center people as violent people.
The reality is if you are FOR data centers, you are the problem and need to do more research. No one should be for any data centers to be built in this country, I wouldn’t want to live near one. I also hate paying the electric bill for billionaires, they need to pony up all the money, they have plenty!
They’re pushing hard for them in Georgia. I get a lot of ads on YouTube about how Georgia Power has recently locked in a rate for three years. (I believe they’re ignoring that it shot up a lot prior to this, but I might be mistaken.) It’s so weird seeing ad campaigns that are targeting businesses instead of individuals (or at least individuals working for businesses).
I’m curious what you mean by “no data centers should be built in this country”.
Almost everything on the Internet exists because a data center is hosting it.
If all of the data centers exist outside of the country, not only latency issues would arise but data security and availability concerns as well.
If there were no datacenters anywhere, the Internet would be a much slower, unreliable, and sparesly populated place.
Data centers is usually just servers, ai use is the part that needs massive power hungry gpus.
I miss the days of a much slower, unreliable and sparsely populated internet. That’s when it was its best.
I know this is a shit post community but with OP I cannot tell if they’re serious or not.
Just confirming that to stream Letterkenny in the US, Netflix should build a data center on the Canadian side of Lake Huron (cause they made the damn show of course), and then pipe the data back to the US?
Its almost like fucking over all of us with rolling blackouts , skyrocketing power bills, sucking up water, and creating heat islands would upset us. Oh and further enriching billionaires with stolen land. Wow. Weird.
Don’t forget the infrasound! YouTube link: Datacenters behaving like acoustic weapons
I’ll watch, but it sounds a lot like people who think wind generators cause headaches and such.
It’s not the same, they’re loud high velocity small spinning blades. It’s the same concept as a box fan, very large diameter fan moving slowly is quiet, small high velocity fan is much louder. And they’re ground level and much closer to people and stacked together very closely instead of far apart.
It’s Benn Jordan. From watching a bunch of his videos the guy is super legit and would be happy to be disproved on most any of his findings.
Totally understand the skepticism, though this guy puts about as much due diligence into the video as one could hope for - near the end he’s trying to conduct a double-blind clinical trial!
I know he’s generally good, saw some of his flock camera stuff.
I am lazy. Is pseudoscience, mad science or just barnyard gossip?
Barnyard gossip with a pinch of divination. Mad science is actual science but for the explicit purpose of being evil or off the walls whacky; given enough time or a proper application mad science can turn into normal science.
yeah i figured the datacenters being sound weapons or something was close enough to mad science, right? it could be sam altman’s evil plan maybe?
This honestly sounds like some half assed right wing flase flag shit. Paint everyone against datacenters as crazy and violent.
I’m from Indy - no one is buying the story. The councilor is a complete tool who’s hated by his own constituents and will be voted out. He’s been caught multiple times making up shit like this just for attention.
Just a thought - if someone was this passionate against new AI data centers, why would they get an anti-data center flyer, put it in a plastic bag, leave it under his doormat, and then shoot up his door? If they’re going to this much trouble, they want to stop the data centers. But they’d be relying on the councilor looking under his doormat and that his opinions wouldn’t be hardened by this. Why wouldn’t they try to kill the councilor, too? Why wouldn’t they at least leave behind an actual threat?
What’s much more likely is he either did this for attention or it was a drive-by shooting and he either put the flyer there himself or it just happened to already be on his porch.
I’m not from Indy and don’t know fuck-all about this particular “victim”, but I kinda believe it. There are a lot of whacko-crazy nut jobs out there.
Nothing in the story that I’ve read points to a political bent for the alleged perpetrator. I do however know that he or she was actually at my house drinking beers during the timeframe of this purported crime.
I mean I am crazy. Not violent tho, unless you count sassy Latin rhythms as violent
Mater tua.
Meanwhile they are threatening to genocide a nation.
Is all violence crazy?
(I’m not saying you’re even wrong, but this false flag shit wouldn’t work if people decoupled crazy from violent.)
someone should “cry wolf” on this loser.
let’s see how he deals with actual threats.
Small price to pay for 2nd amendment
It’s what Kirk would have wanted RIP
Had that zit on his neck not popped at the worst possible time
It would not have popped, if he didn’t do so much fent.
Eco-terrorists do your thing. No one else will stop this stupid forward momentum on AI as it needs to suck in huge resources just so some dipshit can request porn comics.
Please people, you need to stop spreading this misinformation.
AI is not killing the environment. If you track the sources of these claims, you will find that they first were spread by McKinsey and Bloomberg, who have a vested interest in publicly traded oil companies and other polluting corporations. They love to spread this misinformation because it distracts from the REAL environmental harms being caused by fossil fuels, meat farming, and concrete production. See drawdown.org for the specific numbers.
We need to stay focused on climate change and not get distracted. Our efforts should be focused on stopping new coal plants and factory farms. Datacenters, and especially the one in indianapolis which wouldn’t even have used water for cooling, have minimal environmental impact compared to trump’s coal, oil, and farming policies which will kill tens of millions in the long run and have already sparked wars.
We can fix climate change. We were so close to replacing fossil fuels that oil companies got scared; we can’t afford to give up at the last mile.
I actually think the market will beat them too it. Between Sora being taken out behind the barn, the laundry list of layoffs that indicate these companies are getting high off their own supply, and lastly the very real realization that all this “investment” is a massive billion dollar circle jerk.
It looks too bubbly to me, we can only hope the pop happens fast enough that these companies cant cannabalize eachother, but thats wishful thinking.

The Free Market in action. If you keep behaving in conflict with the people, eventually the people are going to stop it. Ask that health care CEO. This was a threat this time. It won’t be a threat next time.
This guy is a politician, and a constituent is telling him the position he should take. He should do his job, and listen to his constituent.
They should’ve listened when people were on their soap boxes. Seems like someone got tired of seeing this guy ignoring them lol.
He’s lucky he got a warning. He should not push that luck.
Violence is never the answer, except when it is.
The problem with violence being the answer is that you need a specific scope and endpoint for it. Otherwise it becomes it’s own problem.
Valid. It is a useful tool, to be employed in the proper circumstances, to achieve a specific objective.
Unfortunately, these MAGA Morons have no idea what any of that means. Violence is just “Wicked Cool!” to them.
Oh, I don’t disagree about violence, in fact sometimes it’s the only language people understand.
I’m sick of not being able to vote for a fucking good person.
I will not vote for anyone approving data centers in my city. Scumbags.
Wait, did the shooter walk up to the house, politely place the note under the mat, then start blasting?
Or did they light the place up before dropping off the note?

We missed you.
☑️ We will make another attempt.
Idc if it’s a false flag. It’s based and the US needs more of these actions (in an organized and targeted manner).
The old delivery method for these kinds of ominous threatening notes was tied to a rock. This is new.
Isn’t a bullet basically a very fast little rock if you think about it?
Rocks and metals are usual considered opposite
Shooty pebbles.
They’re bad for your teeth and no one needs that much food coloring.
Better than Shoot Loops.
Now just have to figure how how to tie tiny notes to the bullets
I believe the classical interpretation is to nail your 95 complaints to the door with a dagger.
Pfff… You kids and your modern day doodads.
Baaaaack in my day, we would carve words into a flat rock and hurl it into the hut of our enemy.
Ah, you’re young enough that language was developed “back in your day.”
I had to shit in my hand and throw it at someone if I wanted to show displasure at someone. Fancy words and carving hadn’t been invented yet. You want to go insult thaag, hope you had plenty of fiber the night before…
