In capitalism, the consumer need only care about two things: the product, and the price. This makes it easy for consumers to compare products and prices, and pick the best “bang for the buck”. This fuels competition, which in turn, incentivizes production efficiency.

Sometimes externalities are factored in. For example carbon taxes. But these are simply factored into the price, so the consumer can still compare products and prices like before.

This “commodity fetishism” that Marx complains about, is exactly what makes capitalist economies so effective and efficient.

Even if we define consciousness as a mechanism for information compression, there’s no reason why telepathic individuals wouldn’t use it as well. Larger bandwidth doesn’t mean individuals would just waste it all by sending through whatever noise goes through their brain, they would still filter out their thoughts, they’d just be able to send out more at once.

What kind of abuse are you talking about? I doubt you’re talking about a 51% attack, which is incredibly hard. I’m guessing you are talking about social engineering, like where some scammer gets a poor soul to leak their bitcoin wallet or something like that.

In these cases, yes a centralized payment system can be useful, because the authority in charge can just reverse transactions that are deemed fraudulent or the result of a scam. But that same authority can do things like ban all payments to Steam for porn games (like the recent Visa Mastercard drama). That same authority can say “GrapheneOS and Pinephone users aren’t allowed to make NFC payments”.

In cases like these it would be nice for there to be an alternative to centralized systems, at least for those technologically literate enough to use these alternative systems.

Actually, I thought about it again and I think you’re right. If they always take right turns, or in other words, trace their hands along the right wall and never let their hand leave the wall, then they’ll never enter a loop in the first place.

A loop implies an “island” in the maze. Following the right-hand rule, you might go around the island. But to get stuck in the loop, you would have to have your right hand along the wall of the island, and naturally since it’s an island, to put your wall on the island in the first place requires taking your hand off the wall you were originally tracing, breaking the right-hand rule.

However importantly they have to follow the rule from the very beginning. So you can’t just initiate in the middle, like the rats might do in OP’s comic.

It depends on how much they care. If the chinese people running the restaurant are just half-assing japanese food and using japanese culture for the name and clout, its disrespectful. Effectively just trying to profit off the culture. Whereas if those chinese people are trying their best to understand and replicate the culture, it’s fine.

Hot take: a japanese person can “appropriate” their own culture. If they just take advantage of their name and ethnicity, without actually learning about the culture. This is just really rare in practice because people of any ethnicity are usually forced to learn about their own culture when growing up
