

I’m very tall and one time I was in my 97 year old grandmother’s room because I’d had to use her bathroom and she was half awake and said, “No! Go away!” and I was like, damn, ok. But I think she thought I was Death! :/
She was the best. So close to MLK during the Dream speech that she sat on the steps and couldn’t see him. Black Panthers would salute her white self. The best. I asked her what the most impactful technology she’d seen in her lifetime was and she said, “the next one.” So cool. There’s a picture of her and her crew with Jimmy Carter and she’s standing in front of him. What a badass.


I could believe it. It’s not that it’s unique to America, or anything. But like I’ve read stories about Dutch people for instance thinking Americans on public transportation were simple, due to all the smiling and the like.
