Instead of complaining about domestic prices and blaming the incompetent government for that shit, they complain about those who assessed the situation correctly and took appropriate action. Their heads are full of shit.
No they did not, lowering prices on oil derived fuel is counter to the values that made us introduce those taxes to begin with.
Those issues haven’t changed, like limiting our dependency on oil, and preventing CO2.
People need to use as little oil as possible, that still goes.
Trucking companies only look at the numbers. A truck uses 35-50 l/100km. So 1€ higher diesel prices make a massive difference for an operator. An electric truck is like 100k€ more expensive then a diesel one. So if a truck drives 700km a day, then it takes like two years for the electric truck to make the money back the 1€ higher diesel price creates., if charging is very cheap.
I bet children being driven on a bike like that have more fun than being driven in a car.
They are more in contact with the environment, and they are more in contact with the parent, and it’s perfectly safe.
So why exactly would you hope that? Do you really think it’s better for the children to sit with their iPad in a soft cushioned air conditioned car? Where they have to communicate with a parent talking over the shoulder?
IDK what country you are from, but that’s an attitude I would expect mostly from ignorant Americans.
You would probably not send your children to this kind of kindergarten where the children are outdoor almost exclusively either: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forest_kindergarten
Terrible how?
Many places it is as safe and sometimes even safer than a car, because many places here now have bicycle routes.
I hope you don’t raise kids in a country where this isn’t safe.
The bike is fine, it’s probably you or your country that is the problem.
Because its size and weight make it harder to balance and maneuver. In city traffic, drivers often misjudge its turning radius or stopping distance. If it tips or hits uneven pavement, a child seated in front is exposed with minimal protection compared to a car. Poor visibility and lack of safety features like airbags or enclosed space add to the risk.

This isn’t about people using as little oil as possible.
This is about domestic producers being able to maximize profit off of their product.

So this matters.
I think you forgot to mention the stupidst German thing that would solve all the transport issues - the Lastenrad.
That is not stupid, those bikes are cool and very useful. We have them too.

The original here is the Christiania Bike, that has been popular since the 70’s.
I hope if you have a family you do not drive them like this.

It’s a terrible and unsafe solution to drive someone in that cab.
