“Why would you even get into bestiality?” he asked. “We’re not into bestiality,” said Patel.

In a further exchange, Patel explained to Senator John Kennedy, the Louisiana Republican, that previously, regulations had barred anyone who engaged in bestiality “on either side of it.”

“Either side of what, the bestiality?” asked Kennedy. “So you disqualified the animal?”

“We have great canines, but we’re not going to disqualify them,” said Patel.

Jesus, is this what even qualifies as a distraction now? If gas prices keep going up Kash may end up sucking off a llama in front of Congress.

This hasn’t been in the news (I’ve seldom seen this in reputable places other than Wired), so it’s an ineffective distraction if so.

Its hard to understand why they would do this. Some high muckety muck must have hit bestiality (I’m sure they prefer “zoophilia”) on their polygraph, or else its a opener/stage setter to ease a broader category of crimes, probably pedophilia and rape.

But no one can claim the GOP doesn’t love animals anymore. A Lot. Patels claim that this is aimed at protecting sexual assault vicitims is nonsensical. They could carve out a law specifically for that use case but they didnt. And the FBI pushing a law specifically for an exceedingly rare outcome for victims is out of pattern. Its not about victims, its to protect perpetrators-- as is usual for republicans in the US.

Probably every other frat boy on Kash’s short list for hiring, if not himself.

I mean I think it was an Oxford frat that had a dead pig dick sucking hazing ritual or something. Ruling class is weird.

Two years of total control and this is what they consider a win?

I know there’s no conservatives here because Lemmy is very much not a safe space for them, but I’d really like to ask one what the fuck they think winning is.

The cruelty to immigrants makes everything else worthwhile to a lot of them. There’s also much enthusiasm for Hegseth’s bro-ification of the armed services. For wealthier supporters, the enablement of open corruption is a huge plus.

Anyone whose identity requires them to be Republican, but isn’t enthused about previous points, can fall back on the claim that Dems would be even worse and this is the lesser evil.

its pretty clear that being able to fuck livestock on a streetcorner and get away with it = winning. Good job republicans. Whenever I’ve heard “the south will rise again” this is exactly the sort of stuff I thought would happen. This and the elimination of womens rights and the legal enshrinement of racism.

There’s conservatives everywhere on Lemmy lmfao. There’s even conservatives who think they’re communists, there are so many right wing cesspools here just like every other website. There’s also just a lot of right wing propaganda that’s so prevalent elsewhere that it’s getting regurgitated by majority of people worldwide and then gets plastered all over here by “extreme leftists” who don’t even realize what they’re saying. I do envy your experience here though.

Lol that’s a good point, I haven’t blocked any communities and only blocked a couple users.

I probably should currate my Lemmy experience more, i seem to get an overwhelming amount of far right content or trans communities just like back on reddit. Not that those two types of content are comparable at all, nor am I bothered by trans content in my feed, it just has nothing to with me and occasionally I’ll unknowingly comment in a community that does not need or want my input, same thing happens with communities for women or regions of the world I have no direct ties to.

Honestly just double check the community before ya comment on it. Or block them as needed, probably no the most elegant solution but it works. Personally I just blocked .lm and my instance defederated enough of the other toxic fuckers that it’s pretty good for me. Still lots of Trans shit but who the fuck cares, sons of bitches and daughters of bastards tend to have decent enough shit posts.

True, but they dont love being laughed at for being idiots. And this will 100% result in a lot of comedy at their expense. So GOP leadership must want this pretty badly. It could be related to this governments attempts to integrate government functions with the state of israel.
