When my kid does 6-7 I do the same gesture saying 8-9. It also means nothing and it’s bigger, so “I win”. Annoys the hell out of them.

I go with “Ya, 42 right? I love Hitchhiker’s guide. You are never going to go wrong with a guy Hitchhikers reference with me.”. And then I go for a high-five that never gets returned. This shuts the entire thing down in such an amusing way.

You’re probably too young to know what 69 means I guess based on your responses, let alone ever had the chance to do a 69, so fair enough.

And I guess weed is much more legal these days than before, so less need for a code number.

42 is what you were thinking of with your first answer btw, and it’s the meaning of everything.

1337 you might come across if you start coding. 1ts M0r3 0utd4t3d.

                69?

Most say it’s better because it has a meaning of some sort, even if crass. Kind of how “fuck” has survived hundreds of years because it’s based on a meaning.

I know 67 is funny for it’s absurdism in meaninglessness, but it’s very likely it’ll be a fad that dies for the same reason, as future generations won’t give it as funny since it doesn’t have meaning. Things like 69, while crass, might still be picked up by an even younger generation, and 420 will probably stick around since it’s already been passed on multiple generations. 42? Maybe. It’s essentially a scifi trope, so it might stick around too, especially with AI becoming prevalent.

Nobody goes batshit crazy over 69 or 420 tho. The reaction is just “heh.”

67 would be fine if the reaction to it wasn’t so cringey. You’re reaction is no exception… you’re pretending that “those old people are out of touch and just don’t get it!”

Nah fam, we all completely get everything there is to know about 67. It’s a dumb meme, there’s nothing else there. 69 and 420 are also dumb memes, and we all know that too.

67 insists upon itself. It’s a really lame thing to attach any significance to.

    Execute Order 66

McDonald’s is always a fun time with my friends if that’s our number. No one else bats an eyelid however.

But Christ when 67 appears 🫩

6 times 6 equals 36. Add every number between 1 and 36 and it equals 666.

      What does it mean!?

        Its true. Between 36 and 1 you have 18 pairs that add to 37. (36 + 1 = 35 +2 …= 37) and 18*37= 666

As I said repeatedly, if a store asks for a phone number for a rewards number, use this with the local area code. You will be surprised how often it works.

I usually just say I don’t want to give out my phone number. It usually works but it short circuits the cashier’s brain

When I worked at a place with such a rewards program, the amount of people who put in their number/signed up for rewards was included in our performance metric. It’s so fucked up, because it impacted how many hours we were given. Never mind that if someone only works part time their numbers will naturally be lower than those who work full time, making it a self-perpetuating cycle for those who want to move up to full time.

Anyway, point is - if the cashier cares, it’s because a messed up system is compelling them to. Which is why instead of saying I don’t have an account (which will prompt them to ask me to sign up), I just use Jenny’s number.

True but giving a phone number often gives discounts… Giving a fake number like 867-5309 doesn’t compromise your privacy at all.
