Decently plotted but slightly nonsensical reject-spies thriller that’s elevated a lot by the dialogue and acting. Oldman is chewing scenery in the best way.

There’s some character development, but it’s much more about spending time with characters you like and seeing how they (mostly) escape this time. The book series is almost annual, seems like beach/airport-read territory.

It’s worthwhile, but don’t dwell on the premise itself too much, especially after they get fucked over the first couple of times.

Some of the parts where they fuck up, the whole premise of the show, a department of fuck ups, are fantastic. Also Gary Oldmans, part of a previously awesome spy waiting on retirement or why ever he’s hanging around is great.

It’s great. A show about MI5 fuckups who keep fucking up. It’s funny in a dark, twisted way and tragic and thrilling. The plots are kind of silly but that’s not the point, the characters are.

Well written, flawed characters. The “hero” still believes he’s a hero, despite being as much of a fuckup as the others. Much of the plots are fueled by his delusions of grandeur.

Amazing cast including BAFTA royalty like Gary Oldman, Kristin Scott Thomas and Jonathan Pryce.

Have a watch or two. The seasons are short and fast paced.

I got tired of it by one of the mid seasons but then the following season was my favorite yet after I took a break

I still have S03 sitting here unwatched. So I definitely enjoyed the first 2. It sitting unwatched doesn’t mean it’s bad though - but it wasn’t so riveting I just devoured it all.

Its a bit weird in the sense that its a couple of departments in the MI6 agency (if i recall) and they seem to sort of “fight each other”, be competitive in who solves a case. I would assume in real life they work together…

But other than that its a good show. Awesome cast. Gary Oldman and Christine Scott Thomas are amazing
