Me too! I haven’t thought about it much either, I’m happy with Graphene though.
There’s still over a year of OEM support left with official support etc, but have you started thinking about what to use after that? A newer pixel? Motorola? Something else entirely?
9front is the only OS I know that actually has a minimum age recommendation on their web landing page: “Ages: 5 & Up”
GrapheneOS on a Pixel 6a
It’s really a declaration, or an assertion.

2·16 days agoI’ve been using Debian for like 15 years, but recently I’ve been trying out OpenSuse, all the versions like Slowroll and Aeon too. It’s just… I keep returning to Debian. On tumbleweed I constantly had that eerie feeling of “oh gosh what changed today…?” What made you do the switch?

I ran into my dentist at a bar once. She came up to me, very drunk, and said/shouted: “Do you realize who I am? I am your dentist! Now I’m going to have a mojito, because that’s what all old hags drink!” and then she wandered off. Unrelated, but when I am in the dentists chair, she always lean over so my head is sort of resting against or between her breasts a little. It’s subtle enough that I don’t know if it’s more inappropriate in itself, or if it would be more inappropriate to make her aware of it.
Debian is also the opposite of corporate since it’s a community project where the community aspect is central with democratic voting and no corporate control.

19·19 days agoI agree, and it’s run by private companies who could just shut it down or use it in evil ways. Our government is maybe making a state owned solution, but it will take time.

45·20 days agoThe whole issue with banking apps must seem strange to people in some countries, and make perfect sense to people in other countries. My whole country rely on a 2FA app made by the banks. It’s in every aspect of society. Buying a bus ticket, booking a time for health care, doing taxes, applying for an apartment, signing contracts, all done with the same banking app. Only people with stallmanesque convictions manage without, with lots of effort. So far that app works on e/os/ and GrapheneOS, but not regular desktop Linux.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•How does Onlyfans models earn thousands and in some cases millions per month, meanwhile a lot of opensource developers earn less than 1000$ per month?English
1·23 days agoIs there perhaps an opportunity here for a hybrid model? OnlyFOSS? We could involve the unixsocks community, and either we subscribe to see them code (free) software, or, we pay with free code to get access to someone talking about mechanical keyboards and minimalist tiling wms etc. Or, there could be a platform like gofundme where projects could have wishlists of what they need, programmers can name a price, and people can fund it. There’s a risk that the “boring” parts get ignored though, like infrastructure maintenance or code review, in favor of flashy new features like quarter tiling in gnome or wobbly windows?
What is actually the logic in this, if the cat is looking it’s to investigate. A gullible cat would just believe without looking.
A few times per year I distrohop, but there’s always small glitches in every distro I try, except for Debian. At least on my laptop, Debian just works.

An important piece in some openings.
