Now that’s just wasteful.
You must not waste the batteries in scooters, the gold in flock cameras or the ram in data centers. I believe Jesus said this. Now pray with me

2·1 month agoLet’s do it!! Pick your favourites (or all) and write your MP or other political representative. Also contact the companies you do business with to encourage them to follow along. Sovereignty as security to continue operations can be a good argument. It can help to address your mail to the IT department, hopefully they understand your concerns.
Yes, literally translated it does. Maul is a bit on the vulgar side these days, you’d say Mund instead. For animals often Maul is still used. And if you tell someone to shut up you tell them Halt’s Maul (hold your mouth)

7·2 months agoGood, I love that this is gaining more and more traction. I’ve been boycotting it for a few years now l and truly miss the event.
It used to be a great force of European unity but now has just turned sour and is promoting the opposite. You could unite over the trashy music, the hate for it, the love for it or just the general vibe. There is something there for everyone.
I’m not at all opposed to worldwide participation (e.g. Australia, or when Celine was there for France) but genocidal warmongers can not be welcomed at an event that is supposed to promote peace and unity.
There remains hope for 2027

Europe@feddit.org•AfD tops another poll as support for German governing parties slipsEnglish
4·2 months agoI volunteer in the community and strike up the political conversations there. Most people prefer to believe a pretty lie over the truth. At least the 60+ folks I get in touch with.
My voice is there, but I am competing against most news outlets and centrist/right politicians spinning their anti-immigrant and pro-war rhetoric. If headlines are put in print, people believe them.
I’m not able to teach people to critically think or question the truth and intent of what the political majority tells them. Sadly, I’ve tried and am at a loss and tired. If you have ideas how to do this, please share.

Europe@feddit.org•Would you accept or refuse the draft if your country decided to reinstate it?English
6·3 months agoI will fight to defend our rights to express ourselves, love who we want, be who we want.
The biggest and most immediate threat to these values are our governments. Implementing surveillance policies under the disguise of protecting children, while failing to bring those to justice that are actually harming them. (Epstein is the current example, the abuse in the church has been known for decades more)
Corrupt politicians are representing the ultra rich and multinationals instead of the people, funneling our tax money into their own pockets and blaming immigrants and asylum seekers when underfunded infrastructure fails. Fueling the fire that enables the political shift to the right without any regard for the consequences.
In short… the answer is NO, there is no government worth fighting for. There is no government that represents me.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Is Switzerland expensive for American travelers?
10·3 months agoEating out is expensive, I would recommend at least Fr.150 per person per day for food. That should cover 2-3 meals and a coffee, sweet treat, etc.
In Europe it’s normal that supermarket prices are significantly cheaper than restaurants. The people preparing our food deserve a living wage.
Sure there will be some fancy ski hut waiting for someone rich or drunk enough to shell out 100k for booze, but just because it exists doesn’t mean it’s the norm.
Germany: Just over 2€ per litre, that’s about $11/gal
