  • I’m sorry, but that is a huge crock of horseshit with absolutely nothing to back it up but vibes. That’s like saying the abolitionist movement achieved nothing because it is superceded by a broader class struggle against capitalism.

Women fought for and won the the right to self determination, the right to vote, the right to divorce, the right to bodily autonomy, the right to be legally treated as persons instead of as the property of their husbands, etc, and none of that is diminished by its byproduct of a larger workforce being better for capitalists. “Women haven’t won anything” fuck outta here

  • I was raised with Gloria Steinem’s definition of feminism shaping my understanding, and have called myself a feminist since I was a child:

“A feminist is anyone who recognizes the equality and full humanity of women and men.”

A more modern and inclusive version of that same idea, adopted by UN Women:

“Feminism is the belief that everyone, regardless of gender, should have equal rights and opportunities.”

Feminism is a very complex grouping of movements and ideologies, but I think “membership” within them is very simple: if you believe in equality regardless of gender, you’re a feminist.

  • I use windows 11 for work as a linux/hpc admin, as it’s a mostly microsoft shop. Most of my work is done in a wsl almalinux terminal, which works fine.

The most important things I’ve done to make the rest of it more comfortable all come from the powertoys suite:

    • fancyzones, to replicate a tiling window manager (I really hate floating windows)
    • workspaces, to group apps and window placements so I can easily launch mail/chat/terminal/browser into predetermined places, etc
    • keyboard manager, to set up shortcuts to everything
    • run, for a keyboard-driven launcher

With all of that, if you squint and don’t think about it too much, it’s almost like a dreadfully slow sway desktop haha
