  • Maybe similar flavor, and maybe they are as bad and maybe you just are posting about something you don’t know/care about.

What they are doing is definitely illegal, but they only get the occasional slap on the wrist for it, which the billionaire owner pays. France does not really enforce rules concerning media surveillance, unless it suits rhé government’s agenda.

Points they were already checked for include: promoting racism, having racist claims, false claims about [abortion, immigrants, “leftists”, convictions of right-wing former president], edited images, using fake numbers, having shared staff with RT, and gaming the channel’s stats to fake compliance with the law regarding the diversity of what is shown.

CNews went to create a fascist candidate (Eric Zemmour) for the last presidential elections (the guy was pretty much unknown before). Oh, the guy even had a neonazi group (les Zouaves) for security during rallies.

Fu’nily, the neonazi leader (Marc de Caqueray Valmenier) was investigated so the channel owner (Bolloré) gave him a role as a security guard on his private island.

  • Powers that be do not want an anonymous internet that helps illegal actions (illegal is large, from organizing slavery to organizing a protest that could endanger the established organization).

The rest is just posturing, seizing opportunities, and moving gradually. It’s just allowing government intelligence to do their job for the powers that be.

If we want to change this, we need more democracy. Like much more. And properly teaching basics of political science / sociology / macroeconomic so voters know where the tradeoffs are, because there are always tradeoffs.

  • France:

Butch is now seen as more polite in younger / woke(*) circles. Camionneuse (truck drivers) is old and derogatory even though still in use.

Femmes are fem, a younger word. NO old word AFAIK. I guess previous generations didn’t care as much / were aroused.

Lesbiennes. Older / derogative term was “broutte minou” ~ kitty grazer (and sounds about as cringy in both languages, definitely the older generations were aroused).

(*) I mean that in its original / positive use.

Edit : for men mostly English words are used (gay, top/bottom, bear/cub…)

  • Things have unfortunately changed in France. What are called Centrists (e.g. president Macron’s party) would now be closer to US dems. The right has shifter to nationalist and xenophobic flag waving, trying to survive between macron and the fascists (National Rally, ça. 30% votes, party founded by a former SS and a litteral torturer)

French socialist party is a socdem party, very slightly left (LFI is the radical socdem party, NPA is the leftist anticapitalist party)

  • There is very good 21st century music, which wouldn’t have come had it not been for 20th century music.

Thinking igorrr, emergence of gqom (that’s very pop for gqom), post rock emerged in the 20th and has a reminiscence of tripped out 70s rock bands, but bands like thee silver mount zion are also very early 21st century.

It’s also not surprising we are hitting a barrier after electroacoustic music sort of enlarged the field a lot, the last major innovations were sunths, electronic soundFX and DAWs and these are all 20th century changes. The 20th century saw more innovation than the previous centuries. Fusion of styles, while older, has given interesting merges in the 21st century as well.

But the 20th century will be hard to surpass, pretty much as by the end of the 19th century classical music was running circles.
