I have a bunch of home movies from my childhood on VHS that I’ve been meaning to transfer for years haha, I bought a VCR and a USB composite video dongle and everything, just haven’t got around to it. We did just hook it up to the TV and watch them from tape last Christmas and they looked okay. It was like watching a portal to a different time though because of the inherent quality of VHS plus the degradation over the years. I suppose I should get to it soon.

Love the maps, I have an old photo of myself playing on the family 386sx with a Might and Magic Clouds of Xeen map in the background. I remember the Ultima games always came with a bunch of cool stuff too.

Oh boy, you didn’t even get the bad b&w photocopy manual? Those came with rentals a lot of times. There was a lot of pointless info too though, like grand descriptions of the starting equipment you ditch after the first half hour lol.

The books were often filled with cool art not found in the game, sometimes there were hints hidden in the margins, or some had a mini-walkthru of the first level or something in the back, along with lore, they added a lot to the game imo. It felt like a well put together package, not unlike album artwork, liner notes and whole albums which people are also now (re)discovering are pretty cool.

You can look for something called headphone crossfeed, there are DSP plugins for a number of music players for this, you can use these plugins to simulate the stereo field of speakers using headphones by having some of the signal from each channel bleed into the other, since of course when you are listening to speakers, that’s what’s happening unless you have your speakers very close to your head.

Yeah what a shock, the fine dining industry has been blowing smoke up this guys ass for years now, they treat him like some kind of culinary god so of course he’s going to get a giant fucking head and start treating people like gordon ramsay on steroids. Honestly the whole fine dining industry seems like it should die pretty soon, overpriced frou frou trash.
