1·4 days agoGoto bank, wait in line, show your ID, they give you some fancy pieces of paper and decrement the number in a table somewhere for the “virtual card”. You give the fancy pieces of paper to a cashier (who keeps basically none because capitalism) as payment.

1·5 days agoNone because I try to avoid bringing it in the first place. It’s my 2FA box.

3·5 days agoI don’t have british pounds at hand so can’t test… Why are you putting valuable stuff next to more valuable stuff, anyway? Like to have everything stolen in one go?

5·5 days agoNope. The website says “get app” like 4 times. There’s a webapp but it’s for business stats only (like if you own a cafe). They are just trying to “appeal to the younger generation”, and one part of that is the app that spams emojis everywhere. Another part of that is furry stickers (“qr cat”) believe it or not; in physical, Telegram and Viber because everything in this damn country is held together by Telegram and Viber.

38·5 days agoIronic it’s a monobank card, it’s mobile only and you have to use a locked unrooted googled phone (or an iPhone) because big brother said so.
If these kids could read, they would be very upset!
And Microsoft Store. And the weather. And also in that edition that literally just launches a browser into a remote machine, they decided to make the Ctrl + Alt + Del menu also a browser. For some reason.
Touchscreens don’t have wheels on them. Styluses/pens also don’t (usually). The latter usually acts more as a mouse than a touchscreen in software, so you can’t scroll by dragging the page.
Ah yes, comparing shit to shit. Although there’s basically no other choice anymore…
Anyways, I once tried removing the profile pictures in Dino. That’s it. Sounds like a great idea, with the best of intentions. After poking around, found that GTK literally has devtools like a web browser, albeit a bit more annoying to use. Found that there’s is a “hidden” checkbox, if I check that it hides all profile pictures. Great, I thought. Then tried CSS:
display: none !important; // nah, that would be too naive hidden: 1; // nope opacity: 0; // doesn't remove from layout width: 0px; // nopeGave up, found the relevant docs after going through a bunch of useless ones, and all of the rules fit on one page. None of them remove a fucking element. And that’s because none of these are meant for the user (have you met the average Gn*me user?). And basically all of them have native counterparts anyway, so they are just an illusion of choice to the developers, too.
People actually use DE browsers these days? /gen
Konqueror was useful while it was still KHTML.
It’s barebones AND heavyweight. People would except only one or another.
That’s because Gnome knows best.

11·7 days agoAh yes, Lightning headphones. Or USB-C, can’t tell. Either way, none of the iPods accept these. Meanwhile late keypad phones all have headphone jacks…
EDIT: yup, USB-C. Also, the phone has a clock. And a camera, not a good one but a camera. It’s a ~2008-2010s Samsung.
Racing games tho
