He wasn’t, there was no such thing at the time and he refers to himself as a Jew in the bible. Christianity wasn’t named until after.

Then why is it in December, when Jesus wasn’t born?

They most certainly did: What do you think Easter is? Why do you think Christmas is in December when Jesus was not born during the winter? Many native pagan holidays were basically transformed into the modern Christian holidays you know today. They did this to help convert pagans. In Catholicism, the saints were originally used as a sort of proxy for the old pantheons too.
Yes.

English. I’m going off of what others who do speak French have told me. Personally, I actually switched to German in highschool because I hated learning French so much, that was partly due to the teacher though.

As a native speaker, I have no frame of reference for English, but some of the people who learned it later indicated to me that it was hard to learn compared to other languages. Maybe it was because they went from one language to another similar language, but I’ve heard it from a few different people.

Spanish and Portuguese would probably be easier to learn than English, same for French. If you knew German and/or English, Dutch might actually be a little easier than you’d think!
The amount of entertaining media out there definitely works in favor of English though, I have to agree with you there.

You are the first person I’ve heard say English is easy to learn, but yeah, the spelling nonsense is in large part because English is kind of a conglomeration of languages.

No, because it’s all made up and we live in the real world.

Yes: It seems very complicated.
To counter your argument about English: English is very complicated, reportedly it’s one of the hardest languages to learn because of all the exceptions to rules and the fact that it’s actually a bunch of different languages melded together (hence the many exceptions).

All modern cars are vulnerable, not just EVs. If you wanted something “hackerproof”, get an older vehicle with manual transmission and no infotainment center. No drive or brake by wire.
Bonus: If your battery ever dies, you can push start a manual vehicle!

I had someone tell me I was full of shit and a coward for suggesting a full face helmet and protective gear for downhill skating (for reference, DH skating can get you traveling at highway speeds). They were talking about if you wore a helmet, a regular park helmet would be totally fine because they’re designed for skateboarding falls.
I tried to explain that park skating and DH are two totally different things, which need different gear and skills, but they just kept doubling down on their crazy bullshit. It was either a troll or an insane person but either way, I regret wasting my time on their bullshit. Hopefully the person we were trying to help just ignored their stupid ass. I should really stop going to reddit…

I don’t know about most, however, it’s not unheard of to plant a heckler who you’ve rehearse with. Probably not a standard practice, but it’s happened.

A Debian based distro is probably your best bet (Mint is my favorite, but there’s a few options including Ubuntu and of course Debian itself).

I’m not saying it would be practical in your case, but you could definitely carry 6 weeks of groceries on a cargo bike (electric would be better given the load though).
Hell, you might even be able to do that on a regular bike. I can fit at least 60 liters of groceries into my Portola (a compact folding e-bike), and that isn’t even including the top rear cargo rack. In an actual mid-sized cargo bike, you could probably fit like 2+ months of groceries.
If you don’t have a safe path to get there though, it doesn’t really matter how much you can fit onto any bike. In your case, you’d need a motorcycle.

4 miles is nothing on a bike, 30 isn’t too crazy either. I think people misunderstand just how far you can travel on a bicycle. Having the infrastructure to do it is another matter though, there’s some super dangerous country roads where it’s 50+mph with no shoulders.

Lots of weight and heart disease I bet.
On a related note, I rode my bike to work today and it was great.
While I’m here, I guess I should plug !micromobility@lemmy.world
Yeah, if they choose to do legally questionable or outright illegal stuff that needs to be fought and defeated in court or we’re in for some grim times.
Well, grimmer anyways…
