Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•English has too many words for animals

Why did you do this

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How come they don't put out episodes of like Invincible, Simpsons, or whatever doing a side by side of the actor speaking into the microphone while watching what happens the cartoon?
1·6 days agoYou’re right. Not actors but technicians, people that support the play.
In the context : in a puppets show you have to « hide » the voice actor
But yeah it wasn’t that clear

1·6 days agoI’ll say Habit.
TV/cinema is wildly influenced by theatre and to protect the « act of disbelief » you have to hide the actors

Comic Strips@lemmy.world•Offensive show. The same applies to comic strips.
7·7 days agoI’m pretty sure you already post that one. Run out of the bad one ?

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•In your language, how do you describe butch and femme lesbians?
2·8 days agoHa yes I’ve heard this one. Thanks for pointing my mistake
So enby : non-binaire, une personne non-binaire
Butch would be the same but we use (and prefer) lesbienne

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•In your language, how do you describe butch and femme lesbians?
1·8 days agoIn Québécois French :
Butch : enby (I guess, but I’m not sure)
Lesbienne: lesbians
Not sure what is Femme so I will not pronounce myself.
Since with not that far from New York and Montreal is (was ?) a big sanctuary city we used mostly (American) English terms in vernacular French

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Would it be silly of me to get a small dog if I am a little afraid of bigger ones?
12·11 days agoDog are like kids but better and more clingy. If you want a dog you need to be ready to educate it

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What would/could the US government actually do if they found out the real identities behind all those "guillotine memes" that people post online?
10·11 days ago- They know.
- they can’t do shit since this people are not targeting a specific person. If they do change the law to make it possible to prosecute guillotine meme, left wing lawyer will be able to prosecute asshole that make « kill all the immigrants » meme. So not a win for them
- now they could go full on « illegal detention » like ICE is doing but this never go well and it’s mostly unsustainable in the long run
So it’s easier to let it go. « Guillotine meme » are a social valve. Let them post their anger if they do nothing about it

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why aren't we evolved to eat grass?
5·12 days agoI think that grass don’t have enough energy to sustain our brain and its development.
Not a native speaker. It took me a minute to understand which to you were talking about 🤣
I think we have
totoo much brain cells to understand
I’ll take that over an information tool that lie 30% of the time
And if ChatGPT made a mistake? How would you know before it’s to late ?

You shouldn’t write with ChatGPT. That’s easy
