No, what they’re describing is a False Friend. A very specific type of homophone/graph/nym. They work across languages. And in many cases (though not a hard rule) have close enough meaning/usage that would confuse non-native speakers trying to comprehend things via context.
E.g. A German telling his English friend, “I’ll meet you at the gymnasium”. The sentence is correct, and makes perfect sense to both. But they’ll end up at two different places.
Many comic artists have side gigs to actually make a living. I could guess what this person does for their day job.
By a Spanish-speaking person. Give them a break.
I actually enjoy all this cultural swap stemming from ESL people slightly misusing English. I love languages. I love how many words come from similar roots but spreading with slightly different meaning across regions.
I think the board is wrong. The f8 bishop is actually on e8 in the comic, which means the other bishop should be on black - possibly on a7 protecting the knight (can’t see that side of the board).
Yeah. And the exact same thing the last 3 times this was implemented in systemd/some Linux distros. We’ve discussed this to death in multiple threads, with many people saying they probably should move to BSD.
So I still think this is newsworthy solely because of that last point.
FAT Table
Can I just pay? I can go to the ATM Machine and enter my PIN Number

Cleric: Hold my ale. About time my day job pays off.
Okay, but where are these American arm-bearing workers? What are they waiting for?
Probably more common than you think. I know someone who worked in the transport industry. They had one advice they gave everyone: “when you’re driving while tired or stressed, hyperfocus on the two lines on the road in front of you. NEVER look at any tree or pole on the side of the road.”
I hate that it’s the default for websites and there’s usually no option to change it.
Firefox with the Dark Reader extension is a godsend.
Ha. This reminds me that my Ubisoft boycott started circa 2010 when they introduced UPlay (I think it was called something else then). It kicked me off my single player game when it rained and my connection became unstable. 15 years clean. Quite proud of myself!
