Europe@feddit.org•Politico Owner Axel Springer Gives Prize to Far Right Billionaire Peter ThielEnglish
5·8 days agoI’m not exactly sure but at least their logo just says Springer. Just wanted to point that out for people who might not know, because I was once confused about if they have anything to do with each other.

Europe@feddit.org•Politico Owner Axel Springer Gives Prize to Far Right Billionaire Peter ThielEnglish
17·8 days agoOne important thing here: Springer and Axel Springer are two different publishers. Springer is a publisher for scientific books and has nothing to do with Axel Springer, which is the publisher behind problematic newspapers like Bild, Welt or Politico.

Europe@feddit.org•Germany news: Majority thinks coalition government doomed — surveyEnglish
5·3 months agoHowever, it denies wanting to produce nuclear weapons and says its uranium enrichment activities, which are viewed with suspicion by many Western countries, are for civilian purposes only.
Reminds me of a very aladeen movie scene.
Jokes aside, people talking about the government collapsing soon reminds me of our last government. There, people talked about the collapse of the coalition for years and they nearly made it through their term. So I wouldn’t necessarily give too much about those surveys and just wait and see…

Europe@feddit.org•Wadephul for non-unanimous voting in EU for foreign, security policyEnglish
7·3 months agoAs far as I understand it, an idea proposed by many is qualified majority voting where a decision can be made by 55% of member states with 65% of EU population. Didn’t read the article yet so I don’t know if there was something else mentioned.
Found this source for further information on how qualified majority voting works: https://www.consilium.europa.eu/en/council-eu/how-does-the-council-vote/qualified-majority/
