I am owned by several dogs and cats. I have been playing non-computer roleplaying games for almost five decades. I am interested in all kinds of gadgets, particularly multitools, knives, flashlights, and pens.

AI may have amplified the problem, but the underlying issue, as usual, is incompetent people. We have an executive branch made up entirely of people who are slavishly loyal to Trump. Since only spineless idiots can qualify, that’s what we get across the board.

In the interest of fairness, I have to post an update. Kickstarter had not done anything about the problem for a while, so I stopped using it. I just discovered today that they actually did fix it.

We have reached the point where companies are willing to lose a small number of privacy-oriented users in exchange for detailed data about the rest. I am already running into sites that are not fully functional from a privacy-oriented browser. (For instance, I can no longer see prices or make pledges on Kickstarter when using LibreWolf.) That will get worse, but I also expect some sites to break with Google and Microsoft so they can continue to serve (and make money from) the larger group. It will be interesting to see how it settles out.

There is a wonderful cartoon book by Tom Weller called “Minims”. A minim is the opposite of a maxim. So the book is full of illustrations of wisdom like “The early worm gets eaten by the bird.” and “You’ll catch more flies with honey than you’d care to.” The book’s subtitle is “Man is the only animal that wears bow ties.”
(Although, I have to admit, my husky sometimes wears bow ties and he looks a lot better in them than I do.)

“Someone’s got their head in the clouds.”
No, someone’s got their head up their ass.
I suspect the military is looking for something that will distract Trump from launching nukes.
