I’m a guy, so maybe it’s because I’m not a woman, but I definitely don’t understand the joke here. Does anyone actually expect the left side? I’ve quite literally never once heard anything to suggest that pms is some sort of a positive experience (definitely not a “sexy” one).
Because a lot of people don’t understand the difference between ovulating and PMS. There is a bunch of research out there with interesting findings about social interactions around the time of ovulation, including things like tips given to waitresses/strip dancers, ornamentation, and presentation styles. Some of the body of knowledge is just bad research, some is just bad journalism, and some is pretty badass (in an interesting badass way).
Just looking at the comic’s expectation side, it definitely seems to be referring to some of the ideas around ovulation time, not PMS.
Hello, I’m a woman so let me confirm: No, nobody. Some people expect slightly bigger boobs or they know they get a libido peak right before the period, but that’s about it.
Probably there is a minority that engages successfully in period sex and looks forward to it, but that would be niche, not something you’d expect most people to relate to.
Never heard anyone say they expect silky hair right before their period, or the skin glow. Most people expect bloating to some degree, I haven’t heard anyone looking forward to it either.
So yeah TLDR some of these things can be true for some people but rarely all and you would hardly call the half on the left “relatable”.
Thanks for the reply. That lines up more with what I thought I knew generally (not only about my partner). It seems like the artist tried to set themselves up for some sort of a joke, and I don’t think it landed
I would say it’s not too rare, but it’s not too popular either. I’ve done it only once. I can understand a lot of women wouldn’t be in the mood and or be in pain so it’s no longer enjoyable. I’m a bit of a hit and miss with my symptoms, sometimes I’m feeling great sometimes I don’t want anything or anyone near me.
Then you need a guy who is keen on it. Some people are put off with the blood.
Edit: and yes in my previous comment I meant people specifically yearning for it (both the “reliable period sex” + “look forward to it”, that’s somewhat uncommon.)
As a fetish I don’t get it, but as a normal activity I have literally done it with every long-term partner I’ve ever had. Some women bleed for up to a week? Guys just don’t want sex for a week? There are showers and towels. No big deal.
I doubt there’s many bleeding at the same intensity the whole week. Discomfort is usually during the peak, and that’s usually one day or two. I’m talking about people who seek this peak. Yeah if you take into account fringe days I probably done it more times.
But then there’s couples that don’t have a lot of sex. Skipping a week doesn’t bother some people that much. Yeah my face is as puzzled as yours but I’ve known some. Each to their own
Orrrr you know, people who just don’t have that much libido and are otherwise content. Or literally anyone in a happy partnership but on the asexual spectrum. Or mature people who have longer refractory periods. Or people with busy schedules who are too tired during the work week. Etc etc etc.

Wait, is period sex not normal in most relationships? Or do you mean people who specifically yearn for it?
(Asking as a man who knows how towels work)

Oh yes, those poor people in dead bedrooms that don’t understand how divorces work.

I don’t have any data, but I do not think period sex is normal. None of my partners have ever been keen on it, from my anecdotal experience.
That’s crazy, that’s like literally a quarter of your time together depending on the woman. It’s just blood?
It’s crazy that other people have different libido levels than you?
Crossing off up to 25% of your life together for sex, not the libido part.
There’s more to a relationship than sex mate. That’s what libido is.
ikr
Isn’t it the left the expectation during ovulation?
Don’t know about the “weight gain,” but as someone who’s been trying for a baby: Yes, the rest of the left panel is spot-on.
For the skin and hair I’d say yes, ymmv but it gets a pass
Yeah, I’ve never heard anyone expecting anything positive from PMS.
That’s why it’s called a syndrome.
