I think that the issue is less that the Daily Mail readership isn’t that useful for random people in assessing overall UK support for Brexit and more than the Daily Mail probably had originally intended the poll to be pro-Brexit and then to to show the poll to its readers to leverage the bandwagon effect to reinforce an anti-EU position.
