Assassins Creed 3 when the very obviously native american main character is given a fake identity as a spanish man named Connor.

I hated that game so much. My boyfriend kept playing it for some reason, so I got to catch snippets of the story along the way and I hated every second of it.

It never felt like an Assassins Creed game and I hated pretty much every character in that game, except Connor because he just didn’t have enough of a personality to hate him.

I always really wanted to like The Witcher, but just 30 seconds with the shitty movement system makes me quit every time I try to give it another shot.

Shovel knight, when you have to fight all the bosses again in a row. I didn’t rage quit, I just thought I did not went to spend my time doing that at all.

    Enjoyed the game before that.

    Final Fantasy XV spoilers:

I stopped playing Final Fantasy XV after watching Noctis’s beautiful cool fiancée die, only for all of his bros to tell him to man up and get over it, and then those same guys got mad at me when one of the bros was blind and couldn’t keep up when I ran somewhere in the next area. Fuck the misogyny of that whole situation. Haven’t played it again in the ten years since that happened.

    start a new game

first we’ll need a crafting table

hit the tree to gather wood

If I had a group of friends willing to play and endless time I would enjoy these games. Unfortunately I have neither.

Doki Doki Literature Club I went in blind. I got through the first chapter and got so pissed off that there was no option to be a better friend to hopefully prevent the first negative event. It made me drop the game. Years later I learned about the game from an analytical video essay and I reposed that was probably the War Games style winning move.

    The Finals
Another player spouted off unambiguously Nazi BS. I reported them. I doubled back to check. They hadn’t been removed after weeks. I don’t play a game that doesn’t even do the bare minimum of removing the open, unambiguous Nazis.

The Red Lantern/ Heavy Rain These can be grouped. I have a rule which says ‘If I’m not making a choice of what to do in your game, I’m already not playing your game, I’m fighting your game to get the chance to play it, so if you can’t show me something damned quick to make me want to fight for it, it’s time to walk away.’ It pushed me away from Chicken Horse. It kicked me out of Heavy Rain too. The Red Lantern felt like it was mechanically sound but the connective tissue was not there. It’s good design to tell a player, ‘you can sacrifice resource A for a chance at resource B, or don’t. Your call.’ It’s terrible design to say to a player ‘Yes or no?’ with no details, no context clues, or even false context clues and the question actually being in reference to something extremely significant.

    Ark
Way back when it was nearer the peak of its popularity, I tried it. I played for a bit. Learned about just how much grind it takes to make even a little crapshack, and how shitty the mechanical design is, and dropped it. Really, there have been many like that, dropped for just not being good/fun. Hell Let Loose was like that. Battle royale games are like that. Civ-likes that aren’t Civ are like that. All the intentional skinner box games are like that.

Voices Of The Void, the game will just randomly decide to disable pausing so you can’t save and will lose a bunch of progress if you quit.

You’re forced to do something stupid and evil for the story to progress. Even if you try to avoid it, the game won’t let you continue unless you commit an obvious war crime.

Rogue Trader, Act 3, when they strip you of all progress so far. Like, the whole point of the game is basically “loot better weapons, level your character”. And then, they take all your stuff and give your charcter a boon to all stats.

How do you think I enjoy being taken all my progress?

I really wanted to push through that part, but it kept on going all the time.

For me it was just trinkets. I realised that i don’t care what kind of random trinket is in the garbage, but the marker still made me look
