I love Nic Cage as much as anyone, but he’s too old for this role. Or, at least they shouldn’t have tried to make him look younger with the bad hair dye job, an obviously-too-young ill-fated wife, etc. They should have leaned into his age and made it a bigger part of his character. “I’m getting too old for this shit.” He should have gray hair, and he could have lost a daughter instead of a wife. I’d buy that his powers allow him to be more physically imposing than a typical 60-year-old might be. Making him younger was a mistake, because they didn’t do it well.
Remember when Roger Moore quit playing Bond in part because the Bond girls were too young for him, and the studio wouldn’t budge? He was 57 when he quit.
Other than that, I watched the whole first episode without skipping any parts, so that’s a “recommended” from me.
