    It’s easy to say that these UK nationals should have just followed the rules. I think it’s a tragedy either way. Sweden cracks down on immigrants with a heavy hand to satisfy those who imagine themselves endangered by outsiders.

    Immigrants are a very well behaved group as long as they aren’t excluded from participating in social life. Immigrants don’t come to a country to do worse, they come to a country to do make use of the opportunity to do better. The Swedish crackdown on immigration is purely nationalistic in nature and a sign of hard times ahead for the entire world.

    I would understand the snark about privileged immigrants such as those from the UK and the shitshow that was Brexit if it didn’t also affirm the logic of immigration crackdowns in general. These people are losing livelihoods, friends and family. That is tough no matter where you are from. Cheering it on with no sense of pity means that you are gleefully cheering on workers getting stomped on.
