And every comments section is one person saying “I went to therapy once and it was awful” and people being like “amen”.

I went to therapy once and it was awful.

I went to therapy again and it’s now something I look forwards to. That first guy just sucked.

Because theres lots of bad therapists out there that pollute the field and give it a bad name.

There are absolutely good ones too, but they are very hard to find under the best of conditions, much less when you are at the lowest of lows and desperately searching for a hand to pull you up.

I’ve also ended up in that hole. Desperately reached out for help, and found a therapist who was glad to take my money, hinted at disbelieving science, and ultimately spent every session fluffing their own ego and not discussing my issues at all, until the end of the last session, where she finally realized i was there and said “oh, btw, you’d just get better if you stopped being a heretic and accepted god already”

Its hard to self advocate when you are at the lowest of low, much less try to go through all the headache, paperwork, cost and hastle of starting over again with another one who could be just as bad.

And even if you manage to find a good therapist, Theres a chance that the technique/approach they use might not mesh with you and help you. So now you have to find another therapist, thats good, and uses a different technique.

Its really fucking hard to do at your absolute best mental health state, much less at your deepest and darkest.

I literally just commented on the other one (the oyster-pearl comic) about my own betrayal. I did say how it shouldn’t discourage someone from going, but that it just sucked to experience that

Therapy is awesome and has helped me more than I can put into words. A bad experience should never stop you from trying to better yourself, even if it makes you a little more cautious for a bit

In this comment section, we shall say: Therapy is amazing! And it’s given me motivation to find a therapist again (cause I’ve been putting it off since I moved)
