Are “smart appliances” able to tell you their state in an app? It would be cool if you could have a single open-source type of app on your phone where you could glance and see that all your appliances are off and your doors and windows are secure.
I haven’t looked into it, but those are the only smart features I’d really want.

Not sure about ovens and such, but in general the app you’re talking about is Home Assistant.
Would you honestly 100% trust the readout? What if the app has glitched and it SAYS its off but its actually on?
At that point, you might as well say that if it’s a smart appliance, it might glitch to turn on all by itself even if you check it yourself.
