The tourist industry in my town belongs to large international hotel chains, fake “rich people” stores in the city center, an ungodly amount of “souvenir shops” on prime real estate who are suspiciously void of customers most of the time and some casinos. It’s not “the locals” who put them there.
tourism countries love to bitch about tourists while building half their economy around them.
Right, yeah, because its people that get to choose what flavour of exploitation their native city will opt for.
