  • Yes and no. I became very motivated for a few years to better myself in some areas of my life where I felt I sucked. Some of these improvements have stood the test of time, but most haven’t. In some ways you revert back to habits and old insecurities and anxieties after awhile. You start worrying about all the mundane, stupid shit again, like money and politics and what other people think about you, even though none of it matters.

But at the same time, at least in my experience, it also helped me appreciate life and feeling more connected with the world.

My realizations came first in the form of an existential panic attack where I realized that absolutely nothing that happens on planet Earth matters. None of it. Nothing matters. At all. Even the all encompassing concepts of life and death are entirely meaningless when you zoom out. It is trippy to realize, truly realize, just how meaningless we are. At the same time it is also freeing. At least it was for me when I came out of the panic attack. Felt like my brain had been rewired at bit.

Then a year later I had a dream which touched on the same topic, but from a more positive perspective. In my dream I was dying and I went around and thanked every person, good or bad, who had ever affected my life in any way. I was simply so grateful that they had given me experiences and made me feel the whole rainbow of emotions during my lifetime. Even the worst ones, I was so deeply grateful. When I died, I dissolved into atoms and became a billion tiny parts of the people i had known, loved or hated and i became a part of entire world and the universe, and it made me feel so peaceful and happy.

It’s two sides of the same coin. We are never more alone and lost in the world than when we are stuck in this one form and forced to live a life we never chose and barely understand, but at the same time, we are never truly alone at all, and we belong to each other and to the unknown in equal measures.

I don’t know what happened to my brain those two times, one year apart, but it fundamentally changed me and didn’t change me at all.

In general I appreciate life more than I used to exactly because it is all borrowed time, but I still have many, many days where all the stupid shit feels big and important, when it really isn’t.

Knowing that nothing truly matters, does not inspire depression and black thoughts in me personally. It frees me to make my own rules and live my life the way I think is the most positive. What impacts do I want to leave behind? Every day is a chance to leave a positive impact in some way. I can forgive myself for falling into the stupid worries in my day to day life as long as I remember to zoom out and appreciate how awesome it is that we are all here and what we can learn from one another.

I was recently reminded of life being fickle when I had to have my breast removed to save me from getting cancer. Made me make a few drastic changes to my life. Started spending more time with my siblings, made me finally cut off my parents and it made me promise myself to work less even if it means I will earn less. Can’t help the mundane worries. They slip in from time to time, but man, it’s nice to have these big wake up calls once in awhile. They are good reminders to spend your time on what matters to you. To me, it’s people and peace. I really don’t need much. Just a peaceful, boring life and the closeness of the people I love. That’s all.

  • Aye, I can do that.

Granted, it’s a bit of a silly issue for us Danes because we really, really, REALLY like our currency which is why we voted no to the Euro back in the day.

I understand that people in some countries don’t really get countries like ours and our love for our royal family, but we were very attached to our former queen’s face on our coins 😆 now we have a king and her face is slowly being replaced with his so maybe we will be more agreeable when it comes to switching to Euros now, lol. He’s not a bad king, but he is no Daisy. She ruled for 52 years and is the longest reigning monarch in our history and she was and is very beloved.

  • I am kind of in love with F and H.

F because it’s the only design that really tries to be differnet, fun and daring. I love the color combinations and how expressive they are. I am aware that this probably isn’t going to be the one that’s picked, but man, would it be cool it this was what the Euro looked like in the future.

H because they are, in my opinion the prettiest animal notes. Again, lively colors that are combines beautifully, and I like that they are horizontal. The tenner with the kingfisher is so pretty, I would frame it and put it on a wall.

I’m not voting, though, because I’m Danish and we still use our own currency. We probably will make the shift to Euroes someday, but until then, I don’t feel it’s appropriate for me to vote for the design of a currency that isn’t used in my country.

  • Nor should you <3

I can’t say that this will help you, but I have used this saying to work on my own anxiety issues and it kinda sorta helps a little bit like ointment on a burn when I become extremely anxious about whether or not I did something to upset other people:

Everyone is too busy worrying about how the world judges them that they don’t have the time and energy to judge you.

I know OCD isn’t as easy as “just change your mindset, broooo”, but if that line can help you in any way during episodes where you’re fearful you did something wrong, then take it!

It doesn’t fix anxiety, but it can help a little. And in my case it reminds me that I’m not the only anxious person out there xD

Big hugs for you ! Be good to yourself <3

  • My friend, you sound like you have some anxiety issues. I recognize your thought patterns from myself.

I can 100% promise you that nothing about that situation was weird or wrong. We have all done goofed at one point or another with bathrooms. I have walked into the men’s bathroom at least once when I was about to burst at a train station and the signing was piss poor (pun intended).

I am 100% sure that the people in the situation you were in thought you were a nice, polite young man and they most likely thought nothing of it.

And if I had been on my way into the women’s bathroom, and saw you there, I would think “bro, same. Shit happens”

    Big hugs for you!

  • Subtle unnatural movements. Everything looks too nice and perfect. Uncanny facial expressions.

For animal videos: everytime there are videos of animals acting too human, mostly in terms of showing human-like affection, its AI.

Situations that are too fantastical to be real. An example could be a video I saw of a guy in a ski lift and a big snow owl lands on his shoulder.

In general: objects or subjects lacking realistic weight and/or physicality to them.

Noticing inconsistencies in the background where objects or subjects melt together, like a person in the background merging with a chair or a bookshelf for a second.

Also, different videos with very specific scenarios like for example surveilance footage of wild animals running through screen doors and into a house while a human is sleeping on the couch or different videos of go pro footage of people in Rollercoasters that go off the rails and fly into the air.

Things like these, I have noticed.

  • Urgh, I hope things turn out right in the end! It sounds exhausting to be German these days. As one of your close neighbors (Denmark) I have always admired the Germans for the wisdom they have carried from ww2 and how it is reflected in art and politics through the decades. Also your ability to not just rebuild yourselves from a horrific past, but earn your place in the European hierarchy in the modern day. It’s endlessly impressive to me and I don’t really get to say this a lot, so forgive me for my simping xD

I just really appreciate our humorless neighbors and I want the best for all of you. I’ll keep hoping for Germany to do the right thing even though there are forces from the outside, trying to nurture forces from the inside to destabilize Europe. And Germany is such an important country for all of us ❤️

  • For my part, the short and stupid answer is that AI destroys the environment, screws over the working class on so many more levels than just taking jobs away and risks making people intellectually lazy and even more inept at social interactions.

There is a more indepth walk through of these reasons, but I don’t really have the energy to write a novel that nobody is gonna read anyway.

Fyi: I used to be open minded when it came out because I don’t like passing judgement before knowing a bit more about a controversial subject. The deathnail for me was when I heard of the costs to the environment and how unsustainable AI is right now. We already have enough shit in this world that’s destroying us. Why on earth are we adding one more?

  • I’m not sure I’m replying correctly to your question, but the Roman letters can be traced back to Egyptian hieroglyphs and those were based on physical forms.

My favourite is the ox head - alp - which was representation for the letter A. If you look at A, you will notice, that if you flip it on its head, it looks like a simplified ox head. That it directly traced back to “alp”. I don’t remember the origin of each letter, I have followed a guy called Useful Charts for yeeeeears and he made a video on the evolution of the alphabet and also made a poster that you could/can(?) buy. Which is so cool, honestly.

Not all letters can be traced all the way back to Egyptian hieroglyphs, but a surprising amount can and they all represent objects that the common man recognized at the time and it helped with comprehension.

In case you’re interested in the evolution of the Roman alphabet, you can check out this video by Useful Charts, or if you’re more interested in just seeing it, you can just look at the poster he made here:
