i have often found myself needing to manually update packages on distros like fedora or debian because i need a newer version that hasn’t landed in dnf/apt yet. arch doesn’t have that problem. ymmv, obviously, it’s not going to be an issue for everyone.

yeah but there’s also been plenty of times i’ve been just screwed on windows where linux would have let me just go fix it myself, so that’s still “linux is the best thing ever” for me.
the four horsemen of just needing something linuxy for my linux screenshots
not even particularly confusing, it’s just two inexperienced users being inexperienced. it seems like it’s only confusing people that know OpenOffice and LibreOffice have OS X versions but somehow don’t know that not everyone knows what they’re doing.
when i say “red grapes,” i’m always referring to the ones that are actually red because they have the most satisfying snap when you eat them.
two examples: white wine, white grape juice. both are very common. seems to refer to the juice color, not the color of the grape skins.
when they’re made into raisins, they’re called golden raisins. so “white” isn’t even the only one.
incels have always existed, we just used different terms for them until they outright stole and corrupted the name of an extremely normal support group for people with social anxiety.
i’ve never had an original thought in my life.

1·11 days agothe only thing i don’t like about this internet debate is the people who think they have super elite ball knowledge about salty+sweet being good. everyone knows about salty+sweet, i love all sorts of salty+sweet things, i just do not like hot pineapple and think it makes the texture weird on pizza.
my weird pizza topping that i love is cashews. i’ve gotten a lot of “ewww!” responses to that, which i find so fuckin weird because they’re not exactly known for having a strong flavor.

2·11 days agoto be fair, even hacker news users still sometimes say AI generated text can be spotted by emdashes even though that hasn’t been true for a long time, and those folks trend far qualified to comment than most public social media. same with generating hands, but i really only see that one on places like reddit. it’s not contained to lemmy, is my point.
yeah, it’s all true, lol.
it’s emacs, though.
yeah it sucks. but next time you cook that recipe or something similar you’ll have a better idea of which dishes you need, yeah? plus having fewer dishes to wash can be extremely motivating, lol

this comes across like anti-therapy propaganda.
