  • Also, after getting a job how do you learn new things. Since your job will be taking a huge chunk of your time. Education is a scam and I am a removed.

    A question I’m still struggling with, but essentially the paths are self-directed learning or post-education training. Depending on your situation some employers will pay for that stuff, but uhhh good luck on that one.

    I have no other interests except linux, scripting and web scraping and that’s a big problem. I really have no idea what I should learn or make.

    There are a few subfields that fall under that umbrella. Linux skills are a great fit for embedded development, which is a great field if you can break in, but is very challenging. For this you’ll want to learn tools like Yocto, as well as rounding out your low level knowledge of hardware protocols and alternate embedded operating systems. Another available path would be doing back end work with databases and hosting. I’m not as familiar in this area, but you’ll want to learn docker, kubernetes, or other containerization tools.

    Separately, a possible field to go for is something called “Sales engineering.” Skills for this are a bit harder to nail-down, but you should focus on tools that let you build applications quickly for demonstration purposes. Python and other interpreted languages are common. The idea for sales engineers are to be versatile and able to communicate effectively about products you are building.

  • Well I can say with some certainty that no matter what your idea is, something stupider has made it to print in Marvel or DC probably both.

    On top of that, I’ve found that people tend to be more critical of things they perceive as amateur efforts, even if the quality is the same. If you watched a movie scene by an incompetent director and catch a mistake you’ll probably be derisive, but put the same mistake in a movie by a renowned director you’ll probably wonder if it isn’t intentional and serves some artistic purpose and might not react as negatively even if it is genuinely a mistake.

    For your issue what I would say is that you should consider what you want people to find compelling in your story and then ask yourself if this detail serves that vision. Its possible your friend is reacting to something undercutting the draw of your work, but it is just as possible they just aren’t getting it. Seek more opinions if you want to understand how others are reading it, but ultimately you have to trust your vision.

  • Trump issued a threat to Iran before negotiations started that he fully intended to carry out regardless. He then launched a series of missile attacks against Iran with the stated goal of regime change and the cooperation of Israel. Iran’s leadership was hit in the early bombings, but they had been preparing for an attack and launched counteroffensives against US bases all over the region, and closed a vital oil shipping route.

    Trumps administration is unhinged and vile, so the early targets also included a girls school and many other civilian targets. Hegseth has been going on rants about how there will be no rules. Congress for their part, came together to fail at enacting a war powers resolution that would have made this ?more? Illegal. True bipartisanship in action. For their part many European states have followed suit, by either tacitly endorsing the war or simply refusing to note that the US and Israel are the obvious aggressors. Spain being a bright spot on that front.

    Irans’s attacks have been expanding as the US keeps attacking. They seem focused on building pressure internationally to end the war, but are also hitting places that are supporting or housing US or Israeli troops.

    For the why, its hard to say. This is a confluence of the entire US political classes obsession with provoking war in the middle east. Schumer, Graham, and the bipartisan warpigs are doing everything they can to justify the war or slow people trying to stop it. Trump for his part is barely there mentally, but has floated war with Iran as a solution to dire political numbers before. He also just seized a bunch of oil from Venezuela and might see the oil supply crisis as an opportunity to profit. There is no motive too low to consider tbh. Worth considering how much is really Trump and how much is Stephen Miller puppeting the gilded meat sack around.

    Israels imperial ambitions are also not to be discounted and they’ve been pushing for this for ages.

  • Its definitely something to keep in your mind with any computer. What I will say to assure you, is that the tools you are used to using on Windows for protection have equivalents for Linux. ClamAV for antivirus, firewalls, and anti malware software are available in most distros repos.

    If you want to be more confident in your security knowledge on Linux, I recommend reading up on the basic permission systems for Linux. Make an isolated folder to explore chmod, chown, and Linux groups and see how accessing files with different permissions works. You can even look at SELinux (Security Enhanced Linux) for more of an idea of how kernel security can work.

  • That’s fair, I personally find spider pictures are generally not as viscerally upsetting as seeing a needle about to enter an arm would be to some, my sister included. Now something from the game Limbo or a spider that is in the act of doing something frightening I could see, I guess my issue is with the implied action and how I’ve seen people react to that

    Edit: I guess -> I personally find
