I’ve heard this so many times. I don’t think so. It’s still going to be more expensive than a cheap corporate desktop that can’t play games, and it’s not going to be that good for compute compared to powerful datacenter hardware. I’m assuming some YouTube said this and everyone is repeating it, but I don’t think it makes sense. The comparison is always made the the PS3, but it’s a very different time and hardware is dramatically different.

  • I would recommend Andor to anyone, no matter their opinion on Star Wars. It’s amazing, despite it being SW, not because of it.

I grew up with SW, but I’ve grown to loathe it, especially after the Disney purchase. It’s just gone to shit. There is no care about the universe or the story. All they care about is how they can reference another thing, because for some reason the vocal SW fan base loves that slop.

Maybe I’m just weird, but I don’t get this. I think all animal mistreatment is bad, and I try to reduce how much meat I eat, but I still eat it. I’ve never understood the attachment people have to horses where they won’t eat it. Most people have probably never seen a horse in person, let alone ridden one. I have, and it wouldn’t bother me. I’d eat dog too for that matter, and I have had a pet dog and love dogs. As long as they aren’t mistreated (which they will be if farmed on a large scale, but that’s another issue) then why does it bother you? As far as I’m aware, it’s really only an English and American thing, and particularly American.

In addition, I’m assuming you eat cow/chicken/etc? How does their mistreatment not make you avoid eating them? Shouldn’t that be more important than what type of meat it is?

Oh my god, you keep going. Nothing makes me think they’re trustworthy. I don’t know why you keep saying this. I’m pointing out that this effect is not an indication of them sending your data off the device. Are they sending data off the device? Almost certainly. This effect is not an indication of that. It doesn’t require anything more than just displaying the text does. Both of them require processing the data in the message to figure out what to show.

Your comment that started all of this:

so… is ios reading all your messages now or what

You’re message implies you think it’s being sent off to Apple for processing because of this effect. You further prove this is what you meant later.

If course, the comment is technically correct. It is reading your messages. It has to to even display the text, so obviously it is. It always has been and always will, and the same goes for every other phone that has ever existed or will ever exist. It’s a requirement for you to interact with it.

This does not mean it’s being sent to Apple. It gives us no insight into whether that’s happening either. It is neither necessary nor sufficient for that. All that we can understand from this feature is that your system is reading your messages, which again is a requirement for them to display them at all.

This is not defending Apple. It’s arguing against stupid takes. It has nothing to do with Apple. I hate them and will point out when they’re doing anything I even slightly don’t like. This isn’t evidence of anything (except being a dumb feature that I don’t even want).

Lol. I don’t. However, you’re acting like just displaying something is an indication of them sending the data off. You do know the text message itself is not just displayed on the screen, right? It takes in some bytes of data and processes it, and them uses that to select characters to print to the screen. It has to process the messages no matter what. This little effect isn’t anything more dangerous than the characters being rendered to the screen. Both of them are just processing the data in a message to choose what to display.

Sure, as you do with any software. A computer is always looking at your data and input. That’s how it works. Unless you audit it yourself, you have to take someone else’s word it isn’t doing something it isn’t supposed to.

I think it should, but I don’t think it does. The first definition that shows up when I search the word: “The edible flesh of animals, especially that of mammals as opposed to that of fish or poultry.” It explicitly excludes fish, though I do think poultry is generally considered meat, so maybe this isn’t perfect. Every definition that is about flesh from a creature seems to exclude fish though.

The distinction of fish not being meat is the reason why the pescetarian diet exists. It’s a diet next to vegetarian, but allows fish. The don’t eat “meat.”

Yeah, if people kept eating steak at the same rate, but reduced or stopped eating all the garbage meat, they and the world would be a healthier happier place. I’m not against eating meat, but I am against they typical western, especially American, focus on eating so much of it.

I’ve had pickle pizzas, and honestly they’re great. They work for a similar reason pineapple does. The sour and sweet compliments the salty fatty flavors. Done correctly, these can be great. Anyone who thinks, for example, pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza doesn’t really understand flavor balance. It just needs to be on the right pizza with the right proportions. You’re not wrong for not liking it, but you are wrong for saying it doesn’t work without trying it.

  • I think they mean if the story that it was a virgin birth is real, not the story of God, because that for sure isn’t. Parthenogenesis is a real thing, though very rare in humans. It allows for virgin births. If the story is to believed that it was a virgin birth, then this is what it was. I don’t believe that story, but it is theoretically possible. I think it’s much more likely she slept with someone else and got pregnant. It wouldn’t be the first or last time a woman did that and said she was still a virgin, and it was a miracle.
